Bisporus. The same culture as in the other pictures. The indoor one.

So I need to find some horse manure. At this time of the year I'm unlikely to get it dry from a stables or field but I could buy it. However I've only seen "dry well rotted" manure. Will this do the same job? A lot of them seem to say composted for 16weeks.

Has anyone here ever successfully bake pasteurized manure/straw sub here?
Curious because I couple weeks ago I was trying it out for awhile and it wasn’t doing it for me. Only the manure/straw sub wasn’t working out.

Speaking of bisp this tray just started waking up today, I had actually screwed up my cycle time a little bit when I first dropped it in and had let the Trey dry out pretty bad one night I rehydrated it but I was pretty sure I had ruined it so I’m happy to see pins peeking through however I would be surprised if I got anything spectacular from this particular Trey I do have more of them coming behind it

So here are my pan texas plates that I think so promise. All t1s from the germ plate.

Thoughts?
Also I've four of these no-pour jars I streaked with pan cambos. I know it's hard to see but they've all got growth on them like this. Is it worth transferring them out?

Those blue plates look good to me I’d definitely grain them.
How does this look to you guys?? It’s Aussie which I know has given people trouble. The myc is so much thinner than the jambos and wild coast were. This is a few days after spawn. I wasn’t even positive it was myc at first.

The way it’s spreading up the walls makes me think it’s healthy but idk. It’s weird after getting used to this type of growth.

I thought this is what you wanted with pans

And thst this kind of thicker growth was more indicative of overlay (absolutely no experience to back this up!)

Would you say those top 2 are ready to case? Or will it get solid white?

This is a little jam tray right before casing the other day if that helps you. I could probably pull up some better pics. How long has it been colonizing? It’s best to let pans consolidate for while there could be patches you can’t see below the surface and manure/straw is not one you want unconized getting air in a fruiting chamber. Also even after casing I like to let it sit for a day or two and grow into the casing before taking the cover off. Not everyone does it but I believe it helps

Here is a tropicalis tray I haven’t even cased yet because it’s only been 6 days and I’m letting it consolidate. Now consolidation is a major pinning trigger and I personally believe it’s imperitive to pinning. I wouldn’t be in a rush to case. I always give it 8-10 days no matter what. A lot of the time it looks like it’s finished at 5 days if you have an even decent culture. If it’s taking longer than 8-10 days it’s almost always a sign there’s a contam or bacterial issue. It’s best to call it a loss. Pans are a pretty aggressive species and a lot of times will eat contams on agar. You want to look for the fast and wispy growth and it’s not easy to find. Sometimes you have to do several germ plates before finding it and I don’t really care what anyone says trying to sector out to T10 isn’t going to help you. I do T1 and T2 rarely only if I feel like something rode with it. Well that’s my two cents

Yeah it’s definitely best to wait a few days once it looks colonized. I’m learned my lesson after my first couple casings got totally colonized when I did them at 100%.
The same wispy myc is ripping through wbs so that’s a good sign. I’m wondering if it’s more an Aussie thing or if it was my myc selection.

I remember seeing a well respected member say that the overlay issue could be solved by letting the sub consolidate properly and that everyone was having so much trouble because they were putting to fruiting too soon. I don’t think he’s wrong at all. I believe that 8-10 day mark is a good ruler to use
Once the myc has taken over the sub and drained it of nutes the sub will shrink a bit and it’s ready to start fruiting which can happen anywhere from 4-12 days in fruiting. If it’s not consolidated and out to fruiting early you risk contam getting in or the myc stops colonizing early and contam most definitely gets in

Read some old threads where people talked about oats being suboptimal / contam-prone with pan inoculant. Is that true/conclusive? Been thinking about doing a2g -> hpoo trays inside an unmodded tub for my first try with cyans if I get around to ordering them

Can someone help me out with this? I don't have access to field aged hpoo, but I can get some store-bought composted manure that also contains 15% pine bark humus. Here's a pic;

You guys think I can use that?

Seems safe.... But idk I know I tryed BK with pans and lost all my tubs even after pasteurization. I'm gonna have to probly take a drive to find some fields.
