The will continually flush if you just let them run but you can pull up flushes at once by manipulating temp, & evap most of the time. I always try to do this so I can print all at once and I not have to catch a few at a time over several days, it can be done quite consistently with practice

Thank you for your replies ! The next pins are more uniformly it seems. I suppose the single one was just an early riser.
Thank you Jake - that sounds like I just need more practice. I guess a few more trays and it will get better.
Is there a certain process how you manipulate temp and evap to get even flushes other than what you already prescribe in your tek ?

On my next project I hope to see just 1 pin. Is 1 pin too much to ask Lawd?

No not really I have an electric heater in the room that I use to control temp then I just use the joc system to ramp my evap and not dry out my trays. That’s why I’m a fan of the automated system when you do this you are going to evaporate the moisture out of your substrate so if you do not replenish it you will get a good pen set then a ton of aborts

i think i'll have some sexy pics in a few days when pinset thicken up. I germinated my spores in the low 70's, isolated sectors in the low 70's, now i'm trying to fruit in low 70's.. 8 days from casing i got pins on two different pan bisphorus cultures and trays. I keep bathroom fan on 24/7 to keep evaporation constant, it's working much better than my first failure of a tray. i seen some reports of bipshorus taking weeks to pin, glad i see them come in fast.

I’m trying to get back into growing some pans but ive let my agar plates go to long and they have large areas of blue on them If i wear to transfer from these blue areas to a new agar dish would it help in sure my cleanliness and the purity of a sample
I’ve already transferred from the plate that had a large amount of blueing on it so I don’t have any photos of it

I just looked at my plates and I have 3 strong candidates starting to fan out from the transfers the other day. I'm doing America a solid and being an election judge today so I won't be able to make plates until maybe tomorrow night.

Would you consider this 100% and ready for casing? The dark areas do have a wispier myc, and a knot or 2 appeared this morning.

Those look ready me, that’s pretty cool the cakes worked.
Zen i would case it but the myc looks sorta weird. I haven’t grown a ton of pans but usually the surface is more uniform.
Same g2g jar just testing cuz I’m having problems with pictures loading.

Well, I guess I might have to cancel my plans to ride the pan snake into the cosmos this weekend
My first tray is putting out fruits and there are I would say about a hundred knots, seeing some more every time I look. Knots look good, the mushrooms that grow look OK I think (they are Estero) ... no spores yet though.
But the growth is much slower than I read it would be. The time between knots to pins is like 3 days. Then 2 days until mushrooms. Is that normal ? I always was under the impression that it is like 48 hours from knots to harvest ?
Setup is JCM-style tub with optional fogger like JOC-pan-tub if I feel they like some more moisture.
Temperature is 27 Celsius very constantly. Humidity measured with Inkbird 95 to 98 constantly - but can easily be brought up with the fogger. I have a waterproof fan on lower speed inside the tub - like a computer fan but IP68 waterproof. Air gets also pumped in by the JCM-style method at 20 liter per minute through the air bubble stones in the water below the tray and the tub is 90 liter.
At this point, what would be the best course of action to get the most out of the tray.

Plents of little knots like here (sorry, my camera is like 20 years old):

Any chance I might ride the snake this weekend, into the cosmos ?

They’re quick but not 48 hour quick.
I’m not an expert but from my experience the pinset is correlated heavily with the amount of evaporation you have going on. A few days after casing I usually start setting things so the tray gets soaked and then gets near dry rapidly and I’ve always had pretty dense tubs.
My soak and dry cycle is sometimes like 30 minutes if I really dial it in. Fog comes on and drenches it and then half an hour later it’s not dry but well on the way and then the fog comes back.
Once the pins come in I’ll tone it down until harvest and then let it stay pretty dry for a day or two and then go back to the heavy fog cycle. Staying on the dry side for a few days and then soaking it usually makes it blow up with pins.

Thank you very much indeed A.k.a ... I think I might run into problems to follow that method. I could do as you prescribe but in that tub I have other trays at other stages of development and also a tray with Galindoi.
So I will have trouble making the best environment for all of them - what is good for one tray might hurt the other one.
I suppose at this point best to let it run its course ?
The tray in the photo has many knots and the longer it goes the more uniformly they seem to develop, so I might still end up with a snake ride or two, if not this weekend then the next - I just collect whatever is ready for harvest
Should I take away as learning experience that it is probably better to have all trays in one JCM-style-tub at the same stage of development and not mix species in the tub ?? That way I can dial in optimum environment.

I somehow have T1's that are looking ready for grain but given my noobness and newly acquired low contamination rates (thank you aka for the tips) I am still skeptical. I'm gonna put them on rye tomorrow and see what happens. I'll keep you guys updated.

Sometimes I think I get too high and can't really tell what's going on. I took pictures this morning of the strong plates and this is what I've got. I'm thinking transfers still might be in order
