Tossed both my germ plates of Pan. Hausteca. Some super slow growth. need to find a warmer spot for the pan plates I guess..
No biggie tho as I am still struggling with the electronics, esp the timers for the fc that I have so far failed to figure out.

Well I've just got an unexpected week off work so looks like I've got the spare time I was after to try my hand at pouring plates and start up some more pan spores.
The agar I put to grain the other day is fluffing up nicely, I think the rye might be on the dry side. Also I stupidly had the lids done up tight when I PC'd them so the vacuum sucked in some air when I opened them up. So I'm not holding my breath but will keep the jars going for the experience. - Am planning to shake the jars once they've got to 30-50% done. Is this about right?

Everything about them. I'm hopeless when it comes to electronics. Can't find any more simple & fool proof timing devices unfortunately.
This is my second set of timers. The first ines were working but needed to be set with a screwdriver so they were impossible to synchronize or get some kind of cycling going on bc I just couldn't get equal cycle periods.
This second set has a digital display, old style but I haven't found out how it works. The previous ones took a day of my buddy's time and were never even used in the end. Now I got to go to him again some time with it probably bc I'm totally lost. Never thought the timers would be the most problematic part.
At least all the other stuff works, the fan, humidifier, light, water pump and submerged aquarium heater

You have cycle repeat timers? Normally the way they work is you have an on time and an off time you set the in time for how long you want you’re fog to run, the second one for how long you’re off is In between runs

Yeah I was gonna say, I'm looking at these outlet timers that have 3 different run time options, so six buttons/knobs in total. I was gonna see what happens if I run like 4 hours on 4 off, a few times a day and dial it in from there. I ordered a mister fogger thing that just sits in a pool of water. My idea is to pack the bottom of my fc with perlite with a plastic tub at the bottom that I'll use as a reservoir for the fogger.
Then using this shelving unit thing I'll keep my trays above the perlite and hope that I don't fuck it up

I have two of these, not very userfriendly ones, with no instructions. I can push buttons and it will change some numbers or a decimal point but it's not counting down or anything.

I bought one of these to time my air exchange fan and it has been pretty easy to use:. I think there is another slightly more expensive model that has two programs and two outlets, so you could do one for your fogger and one for your air exchange fan:...

here is the two program one: https://www.amazon.com/NEARPOW-Independently-controlled-Programs-Programmable-Electrical/dp/B07H1D267F

Thanks. Those look awesome, however they are specific for US outlets and also they don't ship these to the NL.
If I can find the EU equivalent of those that would probably end my nightmare

So I pasteurized some bk manure 3qt And 1 qt verm. To a 1.5qt spawn. 2.6" thick trying out a bunch of different hole sizes this week. I'm wondering if anyone uses straight verm as a casing? I used to use jiffy but they changed something in it that kills the spawn.

You sure about Jiffy? I was just looking at the ingredients a few days ago. Was going to do a round of casing with it. All I saw was Peat, coir, verm and lime.

Mac uses Espoma Organic Cactus Mix, which is what I have, but haven't tried it yet.
Ingredients: "regionally formulated from 35-45% sphagnum peat moss, materials derived from one or more of the following (aged forest products, humus, and/or composted rice hulls) perlite, limestone to adjust pH & yucca extract."

Yeah jiffy is bunk did it awhile back and the surface just rotted. It might be regional. Or maybe user error...... I made it 1/4" thick and no pins formed. I cased late so maybe that's what caused it idk but this is my first round of pan cyans.
I'm trying pastywhite ez tub with different sized holes and patterns doing 5 tubs to see which one bites the hook.

I’ve never heard of problems with jiffy.
Idk if you’re talking about pans but 1/4” might be too much for them.
