One of my next projects is gonna be ditching the shoeboxes and just running the whole underbed. It would be a ton of pans if it worked out.
Oh that cool to see. I get intimidated by all the big, high techish grows. I really don't need to produce many so something low-tech and small is better suited to me. I'm guessing your house is a nice temp for pans? My main issue is a chilly old house. It's a 'put a jumper on if your cold' situation as the house is old that trying to heat it too much is a waste.

I've looked into the jartha and I'm not sure it's feasible with what I have going on, but I might look more into those misters. I'm thinking that running a perlite base to hold humidity and a fogger/fan combo on this fruiting chamber I have might work.

Stonesun and MacMerdin seem to get great harvests off low-tech FCs. Which gives me hope.
Never heard of a Jartha before, going to look that up.

OOoohhh I see, Jartha = JOC's martha. Got it. Yeah I love that setup but it's too much for me at this point in time.

I was thinking about doing a quick write up for the method I’ve arrived at for pans but I’m pretty sure a huge reason it works for me is I live in a very dry area. I can get ridiculous evaporation going on just by rolling back the plastic a little bit.
I’m in a desert so all summer it was around 110 and thanksgiving through Februaryish it’ll be about 50 during the day and 30 at night. There’s a month or so of perfect cult weather between hot and cold season but for the most part there’s either ac or a space heater running.
With the heater I aim it just over the top of the tub so it creates a current when it’s on and helps with temp/fae at the same time.
Somewhere with more humidity could prob rig it up with the plastic lifted an inch or two off the tub, my first set up just had the tub open with a plastic dome over the tray.

It worked really well but only one tray at a time that way.

Yeah where I am is _not_ dry. I've just found a pretty nifty looking two tier greenhouse/growtent thingy which might actually make a pretty good mini jartha.

Can you explain what did you change in pasteurization technique? Summer showed that I should to changу mine)

The picture pretty much says it all but I realized if I set this thing to 155f it stays at exactally 160f center for however long I leave it which usually I’ll put the sub in and fill it with water and put a bowl on top to hold it under before I latch the lid and put that probe in the center, set it to 155f and go to sleep and let it run for about 12 hrs(takes about 2hrs to get to 160 center) I can put 10lb of sub in this at once. Also like I said before letting the sub sit out for up to a 5-6 days and it will start to smell kinda funky but o assure you if you pastuerize properly it’s just the beneficial micro organisms that smell. After awhile you can tell the difference between bad funk and good funk.

Greetings! I am new to EVERYTHING shrooms (as in I have only read through this site and gathered equipment). Please excuse me if I use incorrect terms, as I said this is TOTALLY new to me (use of site, terminology, shrooms, etc).
Since the beginning of Sept I've been researching, am prepared for and have practicied what I could to start cultivating with PE spore syringe, quart jars, rye grain and 66qrt mono tubs YET at the last minute ended up with PanCVI.
I’m freaking out with what I’ve read so far about cultivating Pans and that my setup is not sufficient.
I’m putting Pan SS2A today or tomorrow, then plan on A2G, then maybe G2G or just make enough A2G to go to monotub. I might even try inoculating rye jars with SS just to see what happens?
What I’ve skimmed over thus far, this part of the process is the same for Pans as with PEs. It's the rest of my setup I'm concerned about.
Has anyone used 66qrt mono tubs and quart rye jars with PanCVI?
Will “Pastywhyte’s Ez dialed monotubs” setup be sufficient for cultivating Pans? I haven’t made any holes yet in my tubs...
FYI - average RH here is 65%. I have a humidifier. I could heat the 10x12 foot room (depending on weather temp runs in the 70F to 80F)? Room has one wide narrow window with indirect sunlight, I have 1 T5 light and racks for the tubs and no funds to purchase new equipment. Am I doomed????
Is there a tek using 66qrt tubs and rye grain someone can point me to? Guidance they’re willing to give? Suggestions? Links? Reassurance I won't totally bomb? I'm willing to be someone's guinea pig if this has never been done before (at least if I bomb we would learn something, right?)
I am totally overwhelmed at the thought of not being able to read through these 906 pages and the other posts mentioned by Asura’s “So you want to grow Pan Cyans?” in time to prepare for the next steps.
Anyone want to share their favorite bulk substrate recipe and recommend how much to use in a 66qrt tub? Or NOT to use a 66qrt tub?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

You might get lucky and get a somewhat forgiving culture that will give you a few fruits in a traditional mono but more often than not cube text fail to grow pans or the results areUnderwhelming at best

Do you think a heating pad under a shoebox would work? My house is usually not 82 degrees.

You can try but your bigger issue is going to be FAE and rehydration also make sure that you don’t make your substrate thicker than 3 inches

Does anyone know what overlay actually is? Like what kind of mycelium or growth is it? For example rhizomorphic strands are called mycelial cords and they have a unique structure. I'm just wondering why shit overlays, what causes it and why it does it.

Jake do you generally run the same conditions for each kind of pans or tweak it based on how they seem to be doing?
I’ve been obsessed with how wet the surface is when people post good trays and yours have a huge range from kinda damp to underwater.
I’m wondering if it’s just where they are in the wet/dry cycle when the picture was taken or if you run some types way wetter. I’m sure a lot of it is experience and developing an eye for what the myc is doing which I don’t have for pans yet.

where that info about sub sitting after pasteurization initially came from?

Yeah if I have several bisp trays running I’ll increase the dog cycles some then after I see pins form I’ll adjust to they stay glistening but the evap is keep water from building up in the tray bottoms. It’s kind of hard to explain but you will start to get a sense for how you want the sheave to look. You want to be right in the pocket of keeping it fully hydrated without drowning it
