They say that pans do well on straw based subs as well. Maybe use something like 60/40% straw/coir?

I can definitely whip that up no problem. Thanks! I'll read the general cult info now with that in mind.

I just used a brush cutter in a tote today for the first time. It's an old and small little thing but it got the job done much better and faster than I did with my hands. Had to modify it a bit but I chopped enough straw in 20 minutes for about 3 spawning sessions.

Hard to sift through all of these pages, I have one question. Is there a good non-poo based bulk recipe I can use for Pans?

You can use coco coir, there is a thread on it, so im sure you can grow it on any substrate.

But of course it wouldn't produce as much as it produces on manure.

I found a hobby farm with a horse compost pile. Thinking of looking for some field ages stuff at the edges of the pile, or asking to scour their field for some...

What should I look for when looking for properly aged/dried poop?

Make sure it doesn't smell like ammonia, it has a distinct sharp smell, if it doesn't you're good, also if there is white fungus growing on/inside it then its also good, its beneficial, its called fire fang fungus.

That's it i guess :awesomenod:

Finally got a hold of some copelandia. I got them in a field.

I got some stem chunks on anti-bacterial agar atm. Any tips?

What are they?  pan cyan?

Personally, when starting from wild, I like to go from a spore print, instead of clone.  I have done both (although not with pans, but with Gyms) and starting from spores always worked out better.

I have spore print. It's printing right now. But it's only for back up reasoning that it holds longer than fresh. Yep, copelandia.

Just make sure it's clean before putting to grains,  but that should be a given.

Hello All!

I'm curious about a next possible project. I would like to grow some pan cyans or a similar variation once this current project is finished. I saw on this website a grow without the use of manure and had decent results. The only thing I can remember are his macro shots and that they were cambodginiensis I believe. Used straw pellet with coco and some othe standard stuff. I tried searching for it using the search engine with no success so I was hoping you guys might have it saved and share the link with me.

Poo is definately not an option since the wife is already on the fense regarding this hobby. I understand it might yield poor results but I'm willing to experiment and share the knowledge with everyone else.

On side note since I have your attention. Generally speaking. A dried eight of cubes if equal to what dried in pan cyans? I have seen that the general consensus is 1 gram to 3.5 gram pan to cube ratio. I would just like to know your guys experience so I can see how much it can fluctuate.

Thank you all very much

Straw is said to be a good substitute for poo. The not to use it on it's own though, contams easy and IME doesn't yield as good as a mix. Haven't grown pans yet though so my experience has been strictly with cubes so far. Should have pan cyan goliath on it's spore run though, fingers crossed that it is a pan.

There should be a calculator for potency, try using the search function to find it.

'garden poo' doesn't really smell at all.

You can nab some large mycobags and pasteurize in a camping cooler outside too.

My alfalfa on the other hand makes it smell like a stable ><

There's is one.  It's similar to this one, "official stone producer/sclerotia thread". Something like that.

I second that.  I also received a Mexicana print from one of sara's giveaways last year, thanks again btw.
I want to grow it so much but the label and packaging looks so neat like is meant to be a collectors item, I can't bring myself to open it.
