If the myc overlays/grows over the casing layer, is it basically doomed? Would another layer of casing help?

Hi, first post but long time lurker. This site got me throught pf tek to a few monotub runs. I am interested in trying Copelandia in monotubs. My question is can I stick to the monotub tek I am still trying to perfect to grow these? I would like to use a syringe from a trusted sponsor. Inject in self healing grian spawn bags. Then once consolidated layer them in the monotub with the substrate.
I would rather not learn to use a casing layer because I feel it would drastically increase my chances of failure if I used these.
Would this tek work for copelandia if I kept everything sterile? Thanks.

I believe I remember blue helix saying the bad overlay was a matter of not letting the sub fully colonize before casing. Maybe he will wonder over here in chime in. Also keeping the casing very wet coupled with high FAE is a good thing as well.
I’ve tried monotub a and if your looking for struggling like hell to maybe a dose worth out of a tub then I would say yes you can try mono tubs but after tons of mistakes and wasted time trying things outside of the main teks on this forum that are proven to work for many(asura, jcm, blue helix, JOC are the main ones I can think of) You are better off not if your looking to get anything substantial from your grow and your efforts. Not saying new things shouldn’t be tried but monotubs aren’t new and they don’t work well for this species. And a casing layer is necessary. If you follow a pasteurization tek to the T then you shouldn’t worry.

I'm about to start building a FC for P. bisporus, but the tub I bought is opaque, including the lid. Any suggestions how to get light in there? Is light even something I should concern myself with?

I think even Blue Helix would say that everything we think we know about overlay is an operating theory at this point. Observations have been made... could be related to moisture content of the sub, response to unknown bacteria, genetic, etc.
One thing that's interesting is the we do know that pans form stones. And it's said that sclerotia forming species developed to survive harsh conditions (forest fires and the like). I've been wondering if the overlay is some kind of environmental response like this. Or if the two are related somehow.
Often times overlay will bruise blue as well. What could that mean?

these Florida strains I’ve been running don’t have that marshmallow problem at all so it’s very weird when I’m now running Estero and getting that stuff again in my bulk bag. When I broke the bulk bag up it was like ripping thin rubber almost. It was so thick all I could do was rip it into shreds. I would almost think it is a domestication issue but then I heard people say they got it with the rain euc which is fairly new so maybe you are right about the environmental response. But what exactly is it responding to that would make that happen.

Thank you very much. I think I will stick with cubes to gain more expierence for now. Maybe I will try an albino or something to mix it up though.

Guys, I've just popped my 1g cherry on Pan Cyans. All I can say is:
WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK WAS THAT??
It decomposed me into pieces while offering the most brilliant of light shows only a true GOD could orchestrate. I think even DMT would pale in comparison. Lol
All very crisp and sharp, almost overwhelmingly intense, all with this very gentle guiding voice which I appreciated a lot.
I wish I could express it all in words but it's impossible. Emotions need our bodies to be expressed. So I will try to do just that from now on.
Stick to it guys, it is WORTH IT!!!

decomposition with only 1 gram?? hard to imagine since i never tried pans.. a 5 gram ape dose is my goto dose these days, was aiming towards a 2 gram first pan dose; maybe i should stick to 1 - 1.5.

Idk man. 5g APE sounds fucking nuts, but remember Pans are a different animal. Better safe than sorry for sure. Anything over 1g and I would probably be sorry lol. Or maybe not, who knows. I'm the one to play it safe.

The best stuff. For sure.
I can't even say this is a mushroom experience, lol. It doesn't feel much like mushrooms or LSD or anything...
But yeah in terms of emotional qualities the mushroom essence is clear but there is also something alien and totally out of this world. This has some sort of a GENIUS orchestrator for sure.
