damn... i made a huge rookie mistake. while inoculating my berries with agar wedges, my rdu iso got stuck at the top of the jar. i shook it like hell and it's definitely stuck. it was my prettiest iso too! 🥺
in other news, the other pan wedges made it to the middle of the grain jars without a hitch. it's sad it took me my rdu jar to remember how to wedge the iso down the jar.

Hi Folks I’ve been trodding along after re building my fruiting chamber because my aquarium heater went haywire. Seems to be holding pretty steady now ... I have two regular sized trays (10x20 inches) and one smaller one (4x8 inches?). One big one has Pan Tropicalis red down under ... thank you to JCM for spores! One big one has Pan Cyan “Rainbow” - thanks to LuvTheCyans for that spore print. It is MS with no effort to isolate ... that germination plate was off to the races from day one (or two). Looked very good on the substrate too. Cased them all tonight using Asura’s casing recipe (thank you sir).
It’s all looking promising... save for one thing! God Damn Gnats!!
I have sticky traps all over in my fruiting chamber and some outside but I can still see them tuning around on the colonized substrate.
How do you guys deal with them? I have diatomaceous earth... should I sprinkle that on the casing or will it jack up the fruit bodies? I have Spinosad around here too...
Are they more of a nuisance than a problem?

For me the nest solution for gnat infestation has been a few drops of essential peppermint oil in the plant sprayer and mist the casing with that.
Not growing pans atm but it works for my cube grows.
It doesn't seem to kill them but they lose interest pretty soon after spraying. Usually I see most of them gone within 24 hours.

For Gnats I have a secret weapon. Hot shot brand no pest strip . This isn't a sticky trap it fumigates areas like garages and basements. Be careful obviously if you go this route . It's a chemical. But my experience has been that setting it in a room with tubs with clear it if gnats totally in 24 hours . Then I usualy move it to other areas of the home I suspect are causing the issue like my basement. I also found out dumping strait bleach down my drains helps me out a lot.... I personally would start with organic options. But I did that and lost many many tubs so I had to find something with a little more kick.
-------------------- These things infected me... and now I have to grow them.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they do. Are you doing any other pans at the same time? It would be interesting to see how they compare to the new kids on the block. They were my fave back in the day.

A.k.a said: I wonder if vendors breeding for printable fruits had anything to do with it.
I doubt it, they were already a heavy spore producer, just like the other available cambs. My take is that people don't share spores enough to keep the genetics diverse and strong and the variety hit a bottle neck

ya those sandose are fucked up im willng to bet ur spores came from the exact same vendor mine did. i had very very similar issues with the jams from that same vendor. i was able to get the jams to produce good shit tho after a very long time and a lot of agar work. thats where my jambos came from but the dwarved genetic problems were many and i have a bunch of pics and i know most yall have seen some of them. i believe that from what jake said that its all due to over domestication for the most part and id have to agree with that 100% as for them being ok AKA no those were so fucked up and if u tried plucking thwm off half the time ur just leaving big cavaties in the sub and it was just a pain in the ass. now i did have some of the jams that were retarded midgets that were like that where the weight was ok but they had atleast a tad of a stem to them be it small as hell but it was there and i didnt really mind them cuz like u said the weight was good. heres just a cpl of those
psilo that sucks that u got gnat issues. personally i have never had fungus gnats knock on wood. but i have also heard that peppermint thing b4 too. i know it works for ants tho cuz i put some around my house and it worked. but i like that peppermint pannies thats clever😂😂 cant wait to see how ahit turns out for ya man.

Some picture of my Sandose grow.
Could someone please tell me what these Marks are, bacterial something? Only a handful of the mushrooms had it. I want to see the older of the flush.
Any info much appreciated

I’d like to try them Puduwoke, will PM you thanks!
I took some prints from my current grow let me know if anyone wants one. I’m not sure the origin I got my original print from Alan so I imagine it’s a wild found Pan cy.

What did I do? Unclean spawn or maybe unclean greenhouse?
Talking about the greenhouse.
Anyone got tips if I could put something in my humidifier to get less dirty in it over time without destroying my ultrasonic ?

So I've compiled My First Grow into a Journal thread for anyone interested. I will be updating it once I get the clone growing.
Also, I've figured it's only fair that I share some spores with the community. Problem is, I'm a poor guy. The way we could make this work is that I could send, let's say 10, prints to one person and they would distribute them among individual members.
Definitely let me know guys if you'd be interested. Not sure if Jake already did a giveaway with those (he also has them). They are Pan Cyans from Bunnell, Florida.

I periodically put a couple gluts of peroxide in the fogger probably every two weeks. Like two glugs should do it. Otherwise crap will definitely build up but it can be controlled. Also won’t hurt the fruits at all.

Does anyone have pics of old-ish agar plates of pan myc to share here? On my earliest plates, the myc has formed furrows in the agar, and it's looking gray-colored (my agar is carbon black, so that may cause it?).

MS tray of some bisp starting to throw up fruits, big boy in pic 2 getting cloned now, bisp trays are usually more staggered than other pans in terms of flushing IME, I’ve gotten close to bisp canopies with ISO’s but haven’t quite checked that one off yet it’s the only pan I’ve worked with so far to elude me (except for pan Africa which has been fully kicking my ass) so hopefully chubbers here can help me make that happen

My old plates usually get super fluffy and bruise light blue. That’s only the jambos though.

My Cyan plates create "blobs" and sclerotia underneath. Along with a ton of dark bluing of course. Looks gnarly.
