Lol yeah man i just accepted that I’m never getting a clean sample from a pan stem on the first plate. I’d need one of those jewelers magnifying lamp things and nerves of steel.

Yeah and these stems are so thin I’ve tried peroxide wash and that never works at all for me either guess I’m in the same boat. Maybe an inner cap sample would be easier with these

Thank you man it’s been hard for sure. I have a sort of ritual where each new mushroom or strain I grow I eat one mushroom from the batch so I’ll be doing that at harvest. But yeah I’ve been meaning to take the leap on a whole dose just gotta find the right time between other obligations. Most I’ve taken is probably a half g and that hit me good but I’m ready for the fully.

take a thick piece of cardboard. cover it with foil and wipe it with iso in your sab. take your donor fruit place it gill side up on the foil. tack it in place with sewing needles that are being soaked in iso. so that way the fruit is firmly in place with the stipe standing vertical. then shorten the stipe by snipping so there is only a 2-3 inch stipe. either with tweezers or your gloved forefingers peel the stipe apart and down to the base while keeping your hands away from hovering over the middle area. once you reach the area where the stipe and the cap meet with a flamed scalpel with a sharp ass blade cut a piece of meat around and out by going around in a small circle if possible as to not ever go outside the inner tissue with the blade. if you cant manage to get a piece of meat with the blade use a flamed pair of tweezers to pull the meat away and place to agar.👍👍
it can be a pain in the ass sometimes and its like performing precision surgery at times even but this method has worked well for me with a very small rate of failure

Damn, when cloning my Pan Cyan I only cloned to 1 plate and used 2 tissue samples. All was fully sterile. I supposed y'all were way more skilled than I was.

it all depends on just how skinny the thing is. personally i try not to clone anything thats shit to begin with when its super skinny like that. but when i wanna really b careful to ensure i can get clean tissue from the one i want. i take all precautions possible to make that happen is all

Yeah all these have been very skinny and short anyway. All the weight is in the caps which I’m thinking may be due to me using more light this time around. Added two lights to the 6500k strip.

Still a lot of blotching on the caps a consistent problem. At least there’s still a lot of good fruits. The biggest ones don’t have any blotching. Wondering if I shouldn’t harvest now before the blotched ones get any worst.
Btw I’m only printing those without the blotching so if you do get a print it will be one of those.

Hey all, update on the popcorn + manure jar "experiment":
14 days after inoculation

1 month, 2 days, opened it up and went bulk

I wasn't able to get any proper compost unfortunately so I just went with partially pasteurized coir and verm in a shoebox/minitub. Used 1:2:3 (verm:coir:manure & grain) ratio. Also, first time I layered grains

This setup is not common at all with pans, at least I couldn't find much when looking through the forums, but apparently some people got it to work. I really hope to be one of those lucky ones.

Packed it up with plastic food wrap, poked some holes and then covered with micropore tape yesterday

This pic is from today, I had heard about cyans being a lot faster than cubes but damn these little fuckers are FAST

The Estero print I just swabed produced some thick myc reminded me of the pan jams. I found some decent stuff in there though. Maybe try another swab.

Unsterile spawn run cinctulus outdoor day 3 so far so good it’s quick one. Sub is already starting to shrink though due to the heat. Once fully colonized or if it starts to stall I’ll do some bottom water

also without manure dont expect too much of anything. the results without manure are usually pretty terrible and will often only give you a few below average fruits in my experience. ive even tried it with super good cultures and it was just awful. in my opinion the best sub u can use for pans is a chopped wheat straw and a aged dehydrated and shredded horse manure mixture. i use 60%straw 40% horse manure. as for your casing use a 50/50 peat and med-coarse grade vermiculite mix ph balanced to about 7.5 with a lil calcium carbonate.
