If you live in a dry environment trays in monotubs are better than trays in SGFCs. The polyfill will keep some moisture from escaping. At any rate, you can compensate the moisture loss by misting, just be careful not to mist the pins. You should water the substrate if it looks dry after you get pins.

Hello all, I have spent a week reading this entire thread. First off thank you Mr. Fox this is great. I've had great success with cubes and I'm ready to try pans. I have Pan Cyan Hawaiian and Jamaican on the way. I do have a noon question. I have have 64qt monotubs so how many quarts of spawn and sub will I need to reach 2" sub? I'm very excited to get to agar and get these beautiful things going! Thank you Mr. Fox and the rest of you genius myco nuts for making this understandable for a hard head like me

There's an awesome substrate depth calculator, I think putting that into the search bar will find it

I would suggest that you do trays instead and fill a monotub with a bunch of those. If a grow fails you won't lose everything. It does seem that you know what you are doing though so a monotub is definitely do-able.
Don't worry much about how much spawn you need, you should just throw spawn and bulk in there until you fill it to your desire depth. If you still want to know the exact measurement, you should fill your mono with water up to the desired depth and measure it out with a 1l measuring jug. You can also use a volume calculator that are used for aquariums. I have used something like this in the past but nowadays, I just use whatever spawn I am able to fit in them. Since most tubs have tapered sides, the calculator will not be 100% accurate though. The measurements written by the manufacturers are also not always accurate.

OK so mix my sub and spawn in trays and put into standard monotub. Would you recommend perlite in the bottom or will the trays create enough humidity? I feel stupid asking that but I went straight to monotub grows so I've never messed with pf tek or used perlite.

Trays are basically short monotubs. The technique is still called bulk. Cakes are made with the PF tek and that is totally different. Perlite isn't used in bulk.

Hey guys im making my first attempt at pan cambos. I did 2 multispore poo supplemented cakes and one clone i took from an agar dish wich had pinned. Now that they are starting to mature and i am unsure that they are actually pans. They really look like cubes to me. Thoughts?

Lost my print of bisporus today, all time favorite species, was so excited about it. If anyone here has one I would love you. And give you all the things. Gonna beg in the marketplace as well... But let it be known.
