Well although I thought these grains were going to be total losses I saw mycelium taking over a berry and it gives me some hope, not much though.
I dont want to admit how I prepped these rye berries because if I read someone else doing the same shit I did i would laugh at how they thought it would work.
I'm gonna prep some more grains following that method you showed me in your log jcm and do a g2g transfer on whatever is colonizing. No sense in letting them sit in something i know isn't viable just to toss em out. Might as well try

i have 2 shoeboxes in a shotgun fruiting chamber. Substrate is a 50/50 poop and vermiculite, 5% gypsum. Used a 50/50 casing... like a 3rd of my casing is colonized. I noticed my mycelium looked kind of grey and I've never seen it like that before so im guessing they might not work out. I have a couple more colonizing that look better so it'll probably be ok.

What did you case it with and how thick was your casing.

Vermiculite and peat moss. I didn't put much on top. Basically just enough to cover it. I probably should have put more on it.

is that a coir n verm casing?? also sgfc for me flat out sucked i couldnt get the right consitions gor nothing same with a hc and monos. unless u can hover over them all day and then hand water by syringe once pins come they just were not practicle. pans need a shit ton of fae a higher temp in the 77-80 deg range 80 being the absolute highest id ever let it get. and a very high rh. but u also need periods of evaporation and then re saturation of the air/surface of the casing. its a fine line between fruits and no fruits and the biggest challenge is getting shit dialed in to your environment. and the only way you can really do that is to play with shit and see what they like and what they dont like.
so what i would do if it were me is find a substrate method/recipe that you like and are comfortable with. like are u gnna go with sterilized all in 1 style bags knocked up via LC or are you gnna spawn grains to a bulk sub? i personally spawn grains to my sub into bags and then lay to trays to recover and case. i use rye berries as grain spawn and a 60% chopped wheat straw and a 40% horse manure mixture for a sub and mine is pasteurized i case with a 50/50 mix of peatmoss and coarse grade vermiculiteph balanced to 7.5 with a tad of calcium carbonate. but most importantly u wnna start with a good strong culture with a apecific type of growth selected on agar. now u may very well b doin all this already im not sure but id def get rid of the sgfc hc or mono and get a properly controlled fc that will keep the correct environmental conditions. jakes write ups and asuras write ups are linked in mine also ao heres the link to mine but i suggest reading them all and if u have pics of your cultures on agar, grains, sub ect. post them and wel b happy to look at them and see if we can see anyfhing 😃👍👍

I'm proud to say that I officially feel like a member of the Pan Family now!
It's not a panopy but it looked like this in the morning.

Harvested the big ones for spore prints.

It's evening now and it looked like this, lol. So I'm taking more prints as we speak.

This bisporus has been colonizing for like 5 day's. It's still not done and it's my first time trying to grow bisporus. I don't even know how bisporus is supposed to look. Do you think it looks fine so far? I love getting advice from the experienced cultivators because I've been looking at your pictures lately. You guys definitely know what you're doing.
