After an argument with my wife I tossed all my rain euc trays and had already thrown out my LC so im starting over. All you single cultivators get it in while you still can. Before it’s too late. And you married cultivators who’s wives are cool count your blessings

Outdoor shoebox flushed on the bottom and it was sitting completely in water. So these actually grew out under water. What does that say about water killing the pins?

Man, I have the humidity cranked super high on the Rainbow and getting lots of aborts. I chopped 'em down and I'm hoping for a normal flush to come in. Might have been from watering the casing while the pins were coming in underneath?

Very cool! I have always wondered why pins would abort if you misted them but in nature they can grow fine WHILE it's raining. I guess they can handle water if they are in it since they started developing.

Curious myself. I've definitely seen pans in nature grow through a 2-3day deluge just fine... As I stare at my first nearly ready pan spawn this question continues to plague my subconscious (not that I plan to drown my pans, but it has me wondering...)

I could solve that puzzle in a matter of days. I have 2 more containers I'm waiting to get fully colonized before moving to FC and I will flood one of them after casing.

I have so many knots on those that are all ready fruiting that I can't water them with a syringe...

thats where my $$ would be placed on what happened. i did that same thing on the first flush of one of my jambo trays the last grow of them. they didnt all abort but the ones that didnt looked like shit so im guessing thats totally what happened. that and those are a fairly wild variety yet so who knows what to really expect with them. that would be my guesses just cuz you have killed it for so long in your fc with the same settings know what i mean

@nos - I'd just fruit them normally, man. I think subs can handle a bit of water, based on the fact I normally dump 6oz or so on them between flushes.
@jcm - I think I can still pull flushes off this tray. It's not unusual to have a hiccup like this right on game day.

also ive noticed that my fruits absolutely love to be wet as long as that wetness comes from the saturation of the air around them and not from any kind of direct contact with water like with what happens when misting or even syringe watering the casing with unseen knots/pins just underneath. these are just my observations from what i see with how my fruits/pins behave is all.
and also personally i think sometimes them foggers tend to put too much moisture in the casing. it seems when there is no fruits to take on all that moisture it all just kinda falls and settles on and into the casing making it a soggy mess. now i dont use a fogger at all so this is all just guess work on my part based on what i have seen some casings look like. so it almost seems like the foggers work better when ran less often prior to knots/pins forming and then cranked up when there is actual fruits and even small-large sized pins on there to absorb and collect some of that moisture to prevent the casing from becoming a total lake and hindering fruit formation🤷🏼🤷🏼 nowbdoes this seem right?? like i said i dont use a fogger/humidifier at all but i fully plan to when i move and have the room to set up a full size greenhouse. so jake if you or asura or anyone who has used foggers long term with consistant results can chime in on that id like to know if thats somewhat the case with how you run your foggers?? or if u just run them at the same rate from the start of placing the trays in the fc all the way up to harvest?? like i said im not using one at all now but i just am curious for when i do is all😃😃

My last grow had flushed three or four times and was just sitting around for probably four days doing nothing and then when I turned the fog up and left for two days I came back to a flooded surface full of pins.
Pans definitely like their water. I was so paranoid about getting them too wet the first few times, if only I had known lol.

These are looking much better. 2nd or third flush, I can't even remember.

Could be. I think the issue here was I didn’t really expect anything from this at all, I just took a handful of dry peat straight from the bag and sprinkled it on the top maybe a bit too thick and when it was wet kindof created an impenetrable mat that the sub knew it couldn’t grow through so it flushed on the bottom actually in the water. Or at least that’s my guess. Funny because I would have expected the exact opposite. I would have expected it to know it could grow underwater so force its way through the top. Guess it does what it wants

My casing layers never stay fluffy. At some point it takes on a texture similar to one of those green brillo pads. Like it becomes a mat or something.
I've had grows where the pins poke through through it and grows where the myc tunnels through and then pins on top.
I could see where the myc could have trouble with a thick casing.

I think this is the most helpful/informative/indispensable thread I have ever read at The Shroomery. Regardless of how many years you've been growing cubensis, pans are a surprise challenge for a first timer (luck excluded). Reading through this thread from front to back should be a must for anyone wanting to have a good first grow and move forward quickly. I may have said it before, but thanks again for everyone who regularly contributes to this.

I've been adding crushed perlite to the cactus soil casings I use. Not sure if it helps with the fluffy factor but I think it holds water better than straight cactus soil.

Hey guys just wanted to share my first pan grow!
Overall I'm happy with the results but the fruits are a bit on the small side. I'm thinking it could be genetics but I also quit watering when pins showed up. Could this have contributed to their smaller size? How often are you guys hand watering as the fruits mature?

Nice! Those look pretty normal, pans are fucking tiny. Some look like hairs when they’re dry.
