Just went and check on them and started to poke thru so I think I'll let them be. Maybe pach the casing after first harvest...?
The first picture was from a few hours ago. I'm still amazed how fast they are.

They are still very small, probably would still be classified as primordia cause they aren't really showing the browness of the caps yet tho right? Either way theres several little clusters popping up, hopefully I can make it to spores. The shoebox was spawned on 7/3

hereigrow il mist heavily at casing only but not that heavy to where u have any kind of puddles at all. i very rarely will have to mist again b4 pins. sometimes il syringe water after pinning has started tho but very carefully around everything and yo wanna make sure you dont have pins heads just below or on the surface when doing that cuz its just as bad as misting them and they will look like shit and have more a tendency to abort on ya anyway

Psiloptics said: Hi! This is my second time trying to grow pan cyans. I searched everywhere and couldn't find anyone else who tried this (although read in a couple of places that popcorn could substitute rye grains in pretty much any use case), but I'm using popcorn, pasteurized manure and verm.
The only 'jar' (out of 5 I inoculated) that even showed any colonization after 10 days was this one, which is the least substrate-filled and that I sterilized in the oven (rest was PC'd). I'm just wondering if it's actual pan cyan mycelium or just cobweb/some other contam. Can someone help me out?

Thanks in advance!
Although of course I wouldn't recommend it, looks like it's doable after all! Seems like healthy cyan mycelium to me

Sorry for the giant images, they were reduced already but I don't see how I can resize them here on the board..

So I soaked rye berries for 24 hr and let them dry for 24 hr and got some sweet germination as in sprouts. Im assuming I cant use these and should toss but if someone could confirm, that would be cool

Ah they look a little lanky because I tried cutting back on the fan. The tray made some good prints tho. Just a gh with an ultrasonic and regular humidifier. The regular one has a wicked built in fan bigger than a computer fan. I just pipe them both in with accordion hoses.

Right on. I've always favored the bottle Tek for pans. I went grain to manure and straw instead of my usual liquid innoc with supplemented substrate.
I'm probably going to start using trays now from bags. I fruited a couple right out the bag with cool results too. Might try that more often if they are not too tall.
That's a quart of millet to 3 quarts blackkow and straw.

Errrgggggg.. so the fogger in my FC is what's making puddles in my trays I think. I knew I didn't mist that fucken tray so much. Theres like puddles in the 2 little shoeboxes I put in there yesterday... I'm really not sure how to fix this? I can't have the fan running constantly cause it pulls the humidity down under 90%. Maybe more passive airflow like a bunch of holes in the lid? Idfk this shits so frustrating lol this is why I said fuck indoors and took it outside π€·ββοΈ

Its basically like a jartha tub. It's a 105qt with a layer of wet perlite on the bottom, a waterproof fan on a short cycle timer exhausting on one end. The other end has a big FAE hole with polyfil and my fogger input. The fogger is on an inkbird set to 93% but it hovers around 94%. And the fan time is set to cycle 2min on/10min off.

I'm sitting here in the lab now and I think I may have worked it out, I had my fogger set to like max π€¦ββοΈ I turned it off completely and the FC damn near brings itself back up to 93% rh. It seems like with the fogger on nearly the lowest setting it brings it up within about 5 mins and doesn't make a blindingly dense fog inside the tub. That had to be what was soaking them. Maybe I should have the fog input under the level of the trays as well? But its supposed to hydrate them to a point I guess. I just have to put in the time dialing it in π€·ββοΈ
