I don't think the Pans will mind some sawdust, especially composted. And I can tell you IME Pans love hardwood sawdust.

Eh, people say the mush/mycel doesn't like a lot of stuff or this or that will stunt growth. The hydrated lime I use is 20% magnesium, it's been working great for me 🤷♂️ same with the black kow. At this point most of the time I just run my own tests and if it works it works.

Conifer wood contains a lot of resin/acids or something like that, but you can leech that out or let it compost in which case it decomposes. Either way, a little bit won't hurt any grow I think.

Well thats the attitude to have hereigrow lol. That's how shit gets figured out.
And I dont remember exactly what it is but its a chemical in some coniferous pines like in the sap or something. Maybe ill find the resource again, i think it was in growing gourmet and medicinal mushrooms but idk

I mean honestly, my first success with pans was by throwing a pile of unpasteurized hay straight from the bale, black kow from the bag and a bit of spawn out on the ground by the side of my house and spraying it with the hose on days it didn't rain. Literally every single person told me I was wasting my time beforehand, but I got daily harvests from those beds for weeks at a time over a couple months. Its stuff like that that makes me just go for it with most stuff ya know? If it fails then it fails and you've learned something 🤷♂️

Again that's cubes
Go for it and let us know. If pans dont mind pine shavings it would save me some headaches.

That's the right attitude bro! I couldn't believe how resilient Pans were. My first Bisporus outdoor "grow" (a.k.a. burying a totally contamed piece of sub) was a total mess but the myc somehow survived and pushed out a couple fruitbodies. They will find their niche once in the dirt.

Theres not much in there, maybe 10-15%. I'm gonna go for it with the indoor trays. I think for the 2nd bag that I plan to do outside I'll use my good ol straw/black low combo.

I’m not saying you won’t get anything but you won’t pull a canopy, I hate when I get wood in my manure yields drop to 10% of their former glory

I'm going to be using 50/50 of my 60/40 hpoo/verm mix and lime pasteurized straw. So honestly in the end the sub will be like =>5%. I really don't think it could cause major problems. I guess if it does I'll learn a lesson and the 7 oat bags of this shit I have is useless 😭😭

Yeah that's pretty much what mine looked like but with some chunks and like 10-15% wood shavings.

I want to say pine needles have turpentine or something like that in them. When I was a kid we had outdoor school one week and the guide had us chew a couple and your mouth goes numb.

Wild coast jar knocked up on 7-2. Considering spawning it.

It looks like those Halloween cobwebs.
My question is knots or stones?
