Damn that's badass aka, that makes me really optimistic about what I just made!
It's been running about an hour now and the rh is holding around 93% when the fan isn't cycling the air and it's only swinging down to about 88-90% now. š I think that's about as good as I'm gonna get.

Where do you guys source your straw? Home Depot has bales for 8 dollars but a lot of people say it comes with grains still in it.

Feed stores seem to be the best. I havenāt gone in a couple months but last time they told me theyād been sold out for a long time because of the virus stuff. I guess thereās no money in wheat or whatever it is so nobody was growing it.
Plenty of hay though. I still have a bale I havenāt touched yet.

Feed stores for sure. Itās good to find a feed store near you as they will come in handy for so many things. Grain, manure, straw I also get the salt lick barrels from them for almost free (empty) farmers use up the minerals and then would normally toss them empty container but they make excellent XXL plant pots. (Those blue pots my Kratom sits in)

The seeding starter straw at Home Depot is good becomes it comes semi chopped. Still needs a really good chopping though. One bag has lasted me about 6 months and Iāve been going pretty hard on it. Probably last someone else longer.

Yeah I get fine chopped straw from the feed store but it comes in a plastic bale (ordered in) they have a barn of regular straw also but it is a much bigger pain in the ass to work with the stuff in the plastic bail is ready to go. So if itās the same thing or a similar product at Home Depot I would say itās good.

I use Standlee from tractor supply. It's like 12$ for a compressed/mulched bale. It's pretty clean, theres a few grains and some dirt but it's the best I've found.

I've just been using it as is, but only with lime pasteurization.

What's your sub mix jcm? I just made up like 20qt of like 60/40 local hpoo/verm and have it pasteurizing. I was thinking of adding some lime pasteurized straw when I spawn but that may not be a great idea indoors.

Huh, maybe I will add some straw then. That was my original plan. I just don't like steam pasteurizing it lol.

So the 2 rubbermade trays I got are like 6qt each at like 3 inch depth. I'm thinking I can do like 1qt hpoo mix/1qt lime straw/1qt spawn and that will leave me a little room for casing. I don't think the lids are air tight so I should be able to just snap them on for colonization.

id not exceed a total of 2.0 inches with your casing for best results
