Well my good luck had to end at some point. Starting to get some contamination right in the middle of the tray. My workshop is kinda dirty and dingy so not super surprised.

Took these pics last night before doing an initial harvest of the tallest ones. You can see the contam in the middle :frown:

I put some tissue from this one with the larger than normal cap on two plates.

And then here is one from this morning.

Been harvesting the tallest ones as I have time. Need to get everything decent sized harvested by tonight as I'll be away for the weekend.

I'm betting I can get a third flush after that I won't have anything fruiting and can do a tear down and cleanup.

Happy to trade some prints with folks. Is there a guide on how to do that safely?

Yeah those trays are so nice, I feel you on harvesting them. I usually just kinda fold them down til the stem pops off.

So idk if it’s a coincidence or not, but this accurately pasteurized sub is amazing. It’s been beat to hell dried out and flooded and still keeps going.

I’m convinced these are knots now, I’m gonna recase it and see if I can get an actual pinset.

Yeah, pushing them down for the snap off at the base has been working great, there just hundreds of them to do that to so it takes awhile!

When you say accurately pasteurized what temp/time are you talking about? I have sous vide and could probably do that instead of sterilizing.

I was under the impression that water would make the pins abort, yours looks super soggy but the shrooms are fine? Maybe I shouldn't worry about my dripping lid so much.

direct contact from water will kill pins but they love being wet from humidity in the air

There's this 3 day window full of stress with pans I've noticed.

1. Is it going to pin?
2. It pinned, but will they abort?
3. They didn't abort, but am I getting midgets?

Holy hell these jambo's just exploded in my trays. Hope I have
something to show ya'll soon.

I swear it’s every single time I have a tray in fruiting I think it died because the myc isn’t coming through in new patches anymore it looks like it completely stops growing. I think I’m probably gonna have to throw it away and that’s when it pins.

Hey fellas, I have some agar growth that I want your approval or denial on. I've read and read, and know that i should be looking for thin, whispy mycelium, vs rhizomorphic like I would with cubes. I know some plates have bacteria and one I'm considering tossing all together, but I would still like you guys to at least say that it's looking right.

Thanks in advance guys.

That’s the bad part of the ketchup cups. Low visibility and hard to reach. I would make a couple transfers from the fastest growing sectors that don’t look extremely fluffy, more whispy and see what happens.

Those photos aren't too good. I think I see some mycelium in there. Also looks like things might be a little dirty. I think better photos would help a ton. Some folks also like to dye their agar so that there is more contrast between microbial growth and the surface of the agar.

I think the black spots are just spores, they swell up a little during germination. Although you really shouldn’t take the cap off for anything but in the SAB for transfers. Just a 1/2 second can and will ruin everything.

Myc_Hunt - 3.25oz ketchup cups are a bit wider which makes agar work easier with them. I know they're generally frowned upon but out of hundreds of dishes I've had less than 1% contam rate (from pouring) with them. Much much cheaper than traditional petris.

I don't use ketchup cups. This was with my dslr (no info on the pics, don't wanna use cell phone because imsi and imei info).

These are ziploc minis, the lens was just super close. This was a huge pain just to get those pics and they're bad and I know they're bad.

Sorry, should've skipped posting.

Back in the game maybe ...
Got a new aquarium heater for my fruiting chamber and I put some old gain spawn (for Pan Jam - cambodginiensis ) ... it loooks like it might be taking off in the Hpoo/straw/Coir Verm mix I made. That was also old but I ran it through the pc for a couple of hours to work out any kinks...

All in all a pretty sketchy return to Pan cultivation. But remember folks...
If I get more than 5 fruits: I’m winning!

I haven’t been following closely. I sent out about twenty Wild Coast prints. I hope some of you have fruited them by now!

Thanks for all the help And encouragement in here. Asura, Jake, JCM, et al.
