Yes, it was very dark purple too. It scared me a little because I didn't know what it really was. I guess it's something new.

Yeah I mean the pan trop aus I crossed with was red spore, so I guess purple is the in between (hausteca had black spores but there were very very few of them)

Make sure you try to press all of the air out before folding it closed. Wrap the bag around itself. Put a piece of foil between the filter patch and the outside of the bag where it's folded to prevent it from sticking. Place something heavy on top like a plate or metal weight to prevent the bag from opening while cooking. If the bag unfurls during the PC, it could block the vents (dangerous). Instead of turning off the burner when the time runs out, slowly lower it to bring the temp down. This will help the bags to return to pressure slowly and should reduce the chance of them bursting inside the PC.

Man I do all the things everyone says not to do when PCing bags and mine come out like 95%+ with no pops/rips. I think the main things are raising your bottom plate up a bit higher than with just a couple lid rings. I use balled up foil so theres about 2inches of clear space in the bottom. That way you use much more water and the heat up/cool down is much slower. Also don't heat up on max, I use the "8" setting. I use a 2nd aluminum bottom plate with a heavy pyrex dish on it to weigh the bags down. Once the stopper pops up and steam starts spewing, let it go for a full 10-20min until the pressure gauge gets up to 2ish psi. Then put your weight on. Once you hit 18psi(with 2 qtrs) set your timer and slowly reduce heat by a number at a time until you're at a slow wobble.
I've been doing my bags like this for a long time. I use the little green sealer flip sticks and seal them before PCing and press out whatever air I can. The sticks are pp5 and will last several cycles. One the PC is depressurized I let it cool for an hr or 2 then take my bags out for a mix to redistribute the moisture around and cool down faster. Every once in a while I'll have a bad cycle but its rare.

What grain spawn ratio do you guys use for cyans?
The wild coast I just did was like 1 part spawn to 5 parts manure and seemed ok.
However all the other tubs I made with a coir manure mix have grown mold or are just sitting there.

i started out at a 1.4 ratio and wasnt getting good results so i went to 1.2 started getting better results and thats what the last 10 total trays ive ran was at. all grew fine exept for the aussies which were terrible genetics i wasted 3 trays each grown from a different culture taken from different streak plates even and they were all absolute shit. the bamas i did were tall and skinny as fuck but fruited fine i just lost the ms roll of the dice was all on that one. i do intend to go back to them tho. and the peace river tray was also at a 1.2 ratio but now im tryin 1.4 again with the clones from that grow to see what i get and so far its looking really good on the bulk and is fast as fuck. i cant notice no difference from the 1.2 ratio. so if i can get by with half the grain i was using thats gnna be awsum and i think itl be totally fine as i think the bad results i was getting off the 1.4 before was just due to me neing new to pans and just kind of winging it. so 1.4 is where im at now and i know most of u guys use way less than that even. which i may also explore pending on how this goes for me😃

That’s exactlly how I wrap my bags already. I fold them up tight and pack them I. The pc with wet towels so everything really right and nothing is touching. Then when there done I don’t have to unfold them much at all to seal them.

Yeah I press all the air out then fold them over so the patch is folded on the inside then I load two bags into another bag press the air out as best I can and seal it that goes in first on top of that I just fold my bags like normal but this keeps my bottom bags from taking on additional water which always seems to happen no matter how well I fold them unless I do this

Pan bisp., after 2 harvests
Super uneven pinset so having to constantly harvest, already picked about 50g worth fresh off this flush before the pic
Fruits very small for bisp, but strong af
Took some clones, hopefully they do better

Is it normal to have fuzzy feet on these?
The cambo jams didn’t have any at all but some of these wild coast have a good amount on them similar to those bisp.
I figured I wasn’t giving them enough air but they’re also a different species so idk.
That one cap hiding in the back is huge c10! How much have you been dosing??
I think I’m gonna eat some of these wild coast fresh for my first fresh shroom experience. I hate the taste too much to eat fresh cubes.

I been meaning to ask yall (JCM, Asura, JOC, BH etc), how many times do you typically transfer pan myc before putting it to grain/LC?
I just went back to spores on all my varieties. been having terrible luck getting well organized cultures. seems like the more i transfer the more unorganized the cultures look
but even my clones look like shit: waaay too many sectors, bare patches, clumps, etc on the agar. like i would assume it was some kinda hidden contam, but im seeing the same thing across all my pan cultures (meanwhile all my cube and other exotic plates look gorgeous).. some of them look fairly organized for the first 3 transfers or so, then they get weirder every subsequent transfer.
Im just using standard 1.5% MEA. I am beginning to think maybe something is wrong with my tap water that pans dont like. maybe i should check my ph or try some distilled water.
most of the cultures look really weird on grain too. pretty much only the bisporus looks healthy
idk... any ideas? anyone seen anything like this?

yeah i think imma clone that one too in addition to the 3 i have cloned so far
they look soooo different from the jam tray i did
came out better than i expected, just not great for pics since they are maturing at different rates (already harvested 2x before that pic)
Ive only eaten the pans 2x, first was 1.25g dry pan jam, 2nd time i split 14g fresh pan bisp with 4 people (and ate some additional truffles)

Every time I inoculate Green I transfer out from my dishes that look good to new dishes and use what’s left to go to Grain. With pans you’re gonna have a failure rate so if you plan for it everything else becomes easier. You never know when you may be surprised, And everything moves so fast it really doesn’t put you out to do so

Some have failure rates higher than others so they make 30 quarts and 15 3lb bulk bags to plan for it. That’s me and f you didn’t know. The more I work with pan cyans the more I’m seeing that I really don’t think they even like grain that much so I think I’m gonna start doing bulk bags exclusively once this new PC comes in.

My wife won’t let me use my 26 qt because she said it marked up the stove and now it won’t come off. And my induction stove won’t have it either.

i never like to go more than say t3 from the streak plate just cuz i figure if i aint got a good looking strong culture by then its prolly not worth using. but i dont even really care about sectoring and having a perfect circle culture. im after clones period. so my goal is to get a good looking clean strong culture on grain as fast as possible while i have the largest potential gene pool as possible. if u spend to much time making transfers your eventually just gnna most likely end up transfering away from somethin you may want that is unless you intend on fruiting each one out but fuck all that madness . just cuz it looks perfectly round and pretty dont mean its good either. as for clones they are almost never perfectly round and will usually grow every which way and thats why i take as many transfers as possible from my tissue plates and then fruit them all out and toss the shit ones while keeping the good ones. thats pretty much what i do
