It's not on a plate but it's bisporus. Also it's from a MS wedge.

The bulk bags I’m currently doing I’m doing a mix of 60% straw 33% horse poop and 7% grain, 3Lb bags with the water weight, and inoculating with LC.

That’s what I’ve been saying about my other shoeboxes lol. How many days is that one?? Is bisp the big pan?
This current one took 12 days from spawn to pin. It’s coming in fast and ugly though, I think this is moving even quicker than the jams did. Lots of clusters too. And one super fat boy and a triplet to make cloning easier.

Howdy Ladies and Gents- long time reader, and been trying my luck with pans this summer. I believe I'm having difficulties with my pasteurization process, been using the instant pot the past two runs and my trays seem to tam out on me around day 10 after mixing oats and sub. 65% chopped straw, which is about 1/2 inch long, and 35% aged horse poo, which smells very earthy when working with it, and bring it to FC. I may need to sterilize my sub and inoculate with LC, never done it, but there is plenty of info on how to do it. I've got one more jar of spawn that I'll give a go an then I think I might put some more spores to agar and try a different route. I should prob try pasteurizing on the stove this time and not with the instant pot. If I ever make it I plan to fruit the same way JCM4620 is doing it. Been following how JCM4620 does thing, except putting it in myco bags.
How fine do you folks chop your straw? Does the consistency of my sub look ok?
A couple pics

lol it could be I’ll check it out. The one right to the right of the question mark could be too.
One of the first ones to pop up with three in a row with one cap.
I was just saying some of these look like orange broccoli.
The one right above the D is my favorite. Looks like the melting clock painting. Idk how they can share a cap when one is three times taller.
I’m wondering if it could be from having the casing so wet, like maybe it softens up the cells when they’re forming and they grow into each other or something like that.

howdy😃
ive never had luck with oats and a lot of others dont either. not sure if thats the issue or not but id rather use rye that is my grain of choice. as far as the instapot. i dont trust them. i pasteurize all my sub and casings i qt jars on my stove. i even have a thermometer in each jar poked thru my foil. once done i will seal off with foil and place the jars in my sab to cool overnight. then the next day il scan with a themometer and make sure they are cooled to room temp. once cooled i will mix my spawn and the bulk into my myco bags to colonize. once 100% and a consolidation period il break up to the trays to recover and consolidate a short period then case. i do not pasteurize in the bags. everyone i think gets my words mixed up. im only spawning to the bags. i dont pasteurize or sterilize in bags at all cuz i prefer jars
also my straw is chopped just like that

I’ve spawned grain to sterilized manure a few times and just kept it wrapped up til it was colonized.
With the instant pot I just got a thermometer and the keep warm setting got my quart jars of manure/verm to 162 after about an hour and fifteen mins and then held there.
I still haven’t thrown my hay into any sub yet I gotta get on that.

Thanks JCM. I have a bag of rye just for this purpose, but haven't used any of it yet. I'm going to start over, use the rye and try your method.

So I know mycobags can’t touch each other of the bottom rack but can they touch the walls of the pc if there on an electric stove. I have a 26qt pc but I’ve also had an instant pot for about a year and I just realized yesturday the keep warm setting stays at 165. Could have been using that all along for sub instead of coming up with other crazy shit.

Oh they can touch, they can touch everything ; )
But seriously, touching bags together or bags touching walls, it doesn't matter. They get crammed good. The only time that it does matter is with gas flames shooting up the side of the pc.
