I've seen people get pins in 20 days from FC. I need a print or a swab, I got mine as a live culture and I'd really like to start from spore again. I've been super fascinated by zapo since I started all this. I just want to take a heroic dose and meet the gods 🤣
Lately I've been thinking of making a specialized sub with mainly superfine conifer/fir chips/shavings and straw. Zoo med makes a great mix I think would work called "jungle mix", then they also have some nice sphagnum moss. I wanna make a sphagnum/verm/lime casing for it, and the zoo med shit is all pre treated so I shouldn't have to worry too much about the moss casing. I'll still pasteurize. There has to be a way to properly fruit it, so I'm going to try to re create a messy creek bed in a conifer forest type substrate/casing and try something completely outside the box.

That’s why pan aus is a part of many of my crosses, it is very aggressive, PHV is the only pan I’ve found that is even more aggressive

Pan cyan gator took these transfers on the 20th so 3 days this culture has always been incredibly resilient and fast and has pinned on every tray I’ve done no matter what I had three shoeboxes started pinning under my bed

Pinning in a shoebox under the bed with no fae or fog? That’s pretty sweet.

5 trays, 3 varieties, nothing pinning after 2 weeks in the GH. Can't understand what's wrong. Sub - straw, black know, verm Casing - 50/50+ Temps - 75-84 unconditioned space Cycle - ultrasonic mist 4 mins, off 9, fan 2 mins, off 11. 20 second overlap.
Spawned from healthy (as far as I can tell) colonized WBS. Sub colonized quickly, no signs of overlay. Cased 24 hrs, slight growth poking through. 14 days in GH and nothing.
No strange smells, no metabolites. There are some strange looking white masses in the sub on all but 1. I saw the thread on that, but even those ended up putting out.
I'm at my wits end. Any suggestions?

More evaporation is really all you can do I think.
When I had this happen it eventually went moldy, i think it was just fighting to maintain instead of pinning so it took forever.
I’d put pics up so the guys who know pans real well can see.
How was the sub prepped?

Thanks Jake. I'm really puzzled by this experience. The casing is actually very thin maybe about 1/8" of coverage. I used about 1/2 qt. Per tray if that. The mycelium didn't colonize them much or at all. Seemed to have stalled out when they went to fuiting.
Could be bad genetics?

Could be or if your bulk was to dense and it went anaerobic but from the side it doesn’t appear so, did you check the ph of your case? I don’t even use an eighth of an inch I just put the very bare minimum I can to get partial coverage I still like to see about 30% white peeking through

A while back I mixed a bunch of jiffy and verm in a bag so I didn’t have to keep making it in the garage every time I needed to case something. Yesterday it ran out and there was a handful of super fine peat dust and verm flakes at the bottom. So far it looks like it might be the best casing yet. I’m kinda waiting for the myc to cover it up cuz it’s literally as thin as you could case something so we’ll see.

Yes, case was pH'd to 7.5 using lime. Still puzzled, 24 hours after casing it was fruited. Maybe additional time to consolidate would have helped?
