I gotta say your pans look really healthy. The cap almost has a golden hue to it like outdoor mushrooms do when they get proper air.

Of course making the bags can sometimes be a pain the smallest air bubble can cause problems but I don’t have many of those issues anymore my issue is always losing the bottom two bags but it seems I have a fix that also the bags you choose make a big difference some of them are just way too thin I got a big box of the good thick XL bags so I’ll probably stick to this method for a while at least until winter I am interested to see if the pasteurized method Will start working again in the fall
I put 3 layers of jar lid rings on the bottom of the PC and then put a rack on top of that. Then fill right to where the rack sits with water. I think it's 5 quarts. Might be bit more. I have noticed that my bottom bags take on any extra water.

Same I got a tfal 26qt it’s not bad but doesn’t get all the way to 15. It holds at 14. It’s just inconvenient to drag it out. I have a plug in instant pot that does the job but I can only run 1 qt at a time. Be nice if there was a good plug in autoclave that wasn’t ridiculously priced

So I must have glanced at the trays too fast or something I have three pan African trays in there I thought one of those were the ones throwing up pins but it’s actually a new wild pan collected in Burnell Florida, The pan Africa still do not have any pins yet the mycelium is definitely different than other pans everything still looks good I’m hoping it just moves a little slower

I sterilised masters mix sub for my gourmets in big 3 litre jars with good success. I’m gonna try it with pan sub as well as not had much experience with pasteurisation and I know where I stand with sterilising in my PC. Saves on plastic and bags as well...looking to joining the pan gang very soon

Hi ladies and gents its been a while! Recently I noticed something I thought was interesting, we all know pans dont take too well with misting and will abort if misted, but strangely enough I happened to pour water on my sub post first flush while leaving a few smaller fruits, including a small number of pins and they exploded instead of aborting. Also I poured water on another sub before the first flush, forgot about it for hours, drained it and 1 day later there were pins pushing well above the casing which I had just placed on the previous day. Logically they were already there and responded well to almost drowning.
Iv been working with some very wispy looking mycelium recently multispore from wild fruit. Still learning/experimenting and doing small sterilized tubs of pure straw + leaf litter casing. Next time around I think ill be brave enough to pour water over them before harvest and see what happens. Im purely tossing my observations out there.

I have had an experience with Tampanensis where once misted the fruits aborted, but some other time I gave them a literal SHOWER and them fuckers not only kept growing, they did not even bruise. Unreal.

How’s this casing look to you guys?

I’ve always sprinkled it on dry and then soaked it but I pasteurized it this time. It’s a little different putting it on wet much harder to get a solid covering that’s super thin. I figured it’d be better not to overdo it trying to cover the whole surface and end up with a super thick case. My other ones it was was the thinnest layer of peat powder and verm possible.
I literally soaked my tamps a few times a day this last tub and they seemed to love it.

Maybe you casing was a bit wet going into pasteurizing Mine comes out quiet dry which makes it easy to spread out and I then give a light misting afterwards but Im sure yours will work fine

Yeah I was out of time last night so I just put it in a jar and poured some water in and stirred it up to make sure it was wet enough to transfer heat, then squeezed it to field cap and sprinkled it on just now.
I’m just concerned it’s too chunky and not covering enough surface but it looks fine I guess. I just went and checked the joc tek thread and it looks similar.
Do you make yours field cap before pasteurization and then it’s on the dry side after?

These MEA plates were inoculated from LTC's Pan cyan Rainbow Eucalyptus print almost a week ago. Swabbed a tiny spot on the print, then streaked three plates using the quadrant method without returning to the print. I'm looking to make a few transfers soon before the colonies all run together. Any suggestions, or is it too early to tell?

Wow that’s good germination, I got the same print but haven’t used it yet.
A few look good to me, I like last plate with just the one one it.
I’m curious what everybody else says I’m still not super confident in my pan myc skills.
