You got the right idea. I researched for 6 months before starting my first grow and it paid off. The more you research the more confident you’ll be which will lead to good things. I read this entire thread...probably (definitely) overkill, but if you’ve got the time it can’t hurt. Cool to see the evolution from the start to finish of this thread.
Lookup the grows/teks from Blue Helix, Asura, Jakeoncid, jcm, and Mary Fairchild. If you read everything they’ve written about growing pans you’ll be good to go.

What’s average time from pin to spore production? Some of these things are closing in on 6 inches tall.

I’m happy to let them grow but I have so much shit on my plate with agar and grains For the next 3 days. Just hoping for a ballpark estimate on when to expect spores to drop so i can plan accordingly.

Bisporus pins peaking up after 5 days of nervous anticipation.
It’s a shitty picture I know
Still waiting on the jams but I got 4 more trays coming into play today with camboginiensis as one of them.

they will start to flatten out a bit and they will take on a slightly lighter color and u will start seeing small spore deposits on fruits under and around them a big and ul see when they are gnna start droppin. as for pin times it will vary. ive had pins in 3 days and ive had pins in 12-14 days at the longest ever. but usually its safe to say that if no pins by day 12 its most likely fucked but my average time to pins is 5 days

:neat:

Good catch.

Something about the bisporus...just doesn’t make me wanna eat them. No rational reason. I think the name of a mushroom plays a role in how I feel about them whether it be consciously or subconsciously.  Stupid huh? But something about “Cyanescen” makes me more excited to eat than the word “Bisporus”. Bisporus sounds like a disease or abnormal skin growth or something to me. Maybe if my native tongue was French or Russian or not English, I’d feel the complete opposite

maybe I’ll make up my own names and train my brain to start interpreting a different word when I read “bisporus” to get over it.
I bought like a half oz of bisporus 6-7 years ago and never tried em. Still got em in my freezer

Thanks for the tip jcm.

C10 - what’s your substrate depth?
Does substrate depth have anything to do with fruit size? Seems to be a correlation with cubes. Same for pans?

=[
I’m nervous about getting my first contam cause I’m too inexperienced to see some of those subtle differences. I just hope when it does happen it’s green so it’s obvious.
My substrate depth was <2inches btw

Looks like your jams are about the same color as mine, at every stage.

I had first pins on Sunday (06/14) and harvested about 10% of my tray last night (06/18) and plan to harvest the rest tonight. So 5 days to pin, another 5 to harvest.
But, I had another tray pin on 06/16 and I’m going to be harvesting the entire thing tonight (06/19). Every pin on that tray showed up on day 5 and then no more after that. And the fruits shot up and flattened their caps in less than 3 days. They’re a little more skinny than the more dense tray but just as tall.

The pins come in so gradually on the other tray...There hasn’t been a single day without a new pin since it first started 5 days ago.

I don’t get it...the casing layer on my more sparse trays stay saturated no problem, but the casing layer on my more dense tray needs to get soaked with at least a full 60mL syringe every 6-8 hours regardless of the fact the RH is 96-99%. And within 8 hours it’s dry as hell again. But the actual fruits are still glistening.

Trich starts out white and turns green later. Usually an even whiter white than the myc. Also flat. It’s hard to tell apart at first.

Good job c10. I do t think that’s bad at all for your first pan grow. I’ve only managed to grow pans once so far

They were short. I think I probably got 4g total from the tray. I think it’s because I haven’t had my evap up as high as I do now because my FCs were all tuned to cubes and so were my methods. I think I’m starting to get it now though.

Funny that the only time I’ve been able to grow pans was from a ms syringe. Every other time after have been cultures from agar. If not mono then close to it. The myc on the wild pan cyan plates I have going looks so completely different from any pan jam myc I’ve dealt with I would think it a different species entirely. But I’m pretty new to mycology and just kinda bumbling my way through all this anyway.

it took me a good 8 smaller and not so good of grows to get my eye trained for pans and to do enough work on my jams to weed out all the shit ass genetics that liked to overlay and grow retarded lil midgets that didnt even have stems. the jams were the first pans i ever grew and it took me from november til march to get my final cultures that i kept. so it takes a while to get the eye for shit and to see what they like and what they dont like. so dont get discouraged by how long it takes or how little u get. you will get there eventually and u guys r all doin great 👍 in such a short time the amount of ppl i have seen come into this thread and put  up pics of fruits and nice trays is fuckin awsum as hell.

we all get frustrated at times lord knows i have been super frustrated lately. with the last 2 grows i have had terrible results and couldnt even get a clone worthy fruit til just the other day. so i feel ur guys pain belive me. but i have no doubts that all u guys will kill it if u keep at it👍👍

It definitely is. Other tray made with same spawn and same bulk bag still looks great tho

Is it time to harvest these? Just the mature ones or all? How do i know which ones are ready?

Those tiny pins havent grown at all, what should i do with them?

Im about to spawn some wild coast and more alabamas, and some pan bisp. Using only 1qt spawn per bag, so ill probably add some dry millet and sterilize it like asura does w lc
