figures lol. i think ul b ok tho but i would def get your casing wetness up a bit on all the trays. i have found that my jams overlay less with a wet casing. but just a lil more than what you would think would be wet with cubes. cuz that is actually a lil dry for pans it seems. maybe jake will chime in also he has some really good pics showing the wetness of his casings. eventually u will see it where that happy line is for them with it. its just kinda hard to describe is all.

@jcm, I haven't really noticed that. I'll have to keep an eye on that next time it happens.
@c10, I don't know of anything that stops overlay once it is there. I have done all sorts of experiments and was never able to get rid of it. Some of these are obviously hail mary's but I wanted to document it anyway:
1. Patching 2. Scraping 3. Completely removing casing and recasing 4. Casing on top of existing casing 5. Cold shocking 6. Spraying with h202
Even with overlay, you can still get a decent pin set. And your tray is nowhere close to some of the bad overlay I have experienced, btw. Plenty of room for pins there.

Also, weird thing with overlay. Sometimes if you disturb it, like break it up with a q-tip or something, it will bruise blue. Makes me think it's already producing actives. Not sure if that's a clue or I am too dumb to make some kind of obvious mycological connection.

Hi Folks, first post ever!
First of all; tnx for all the information i found here on the forum! Been reading, growing and experimenting now for about a year. Growing oyster, shitake, cubensis and for the last few months also panaeolus. Altough i've run into quite some common problems, the pans really test my patience :-) I would kindly ask you guys to check out my setup and see what the problem could be. So i started with spores on agar. Spores (pan jamaican) came from sporevial, via commercial vendor. Grows quite well on agar, no problems there. First try: agar on grain, then to pure horse dung, sterilised in grow bag. Patchy growth inside the bag, would stall and eventually ended on the compost pile. Second try: again from same spores, 1 agar transfer later, to grain then bulk. Bulk recepy from Jakeoncid419. This went to Tub and stalled there, yes to growth, no fruits, on to compost pile. Third and fourth try: Setup tub system inspired by Jakeoncid419. See picture. Got fogger on timer every hour for few minutes and fresh air every hour for a minute or so through blower. (only 20 on/of moments on timer). Agar is from second transfer, taking the best looking to new plate. Two different types of substrate and casing to see what works... nothing. There is growth, some overlay, no fruits.... and on compost pile it went... Upside: my tomatoes will grow very well next year :-)
Humidity is high, 85-95, temp between 23-27...

So my conclusion is: shitty genetics....?
Im determined to succeed, also because i promised my friends pans this summer :-)
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hey there I am just getting into Pan. Cyan. Cultivation.
I was wondering if someone could take a look at my Pan. Cyan. Tub and Tell me if it is looking good and ~how much time till expose to fruiting.

NOTE: I used a very very bright headlamp, that is why it is so white and the rest is dark.

Read the link in my sig, "So you want to grow Pan cyans?" for some basic info and then read the links within the post. You will then have an idea about what you need to do.

Yes I read it, is that tub in your opinion ready to be cased? (Blue Meanie, put to tub on 6/8/20)
I also have tubs of Pan. Cambo. (Super Goliath) looking like this:

I am surprised how much more dense the Cambo. colonizes compared to the Cyan.
Any comments on the Cambo.?
I think that definitely needs more time to colonize.

Man I have a pan jam tray in right now that I put in yesterday and I wet that casing real good And again heavy as hell before I went to sleep and there was no myc coming through. Then I went to sleep and when I woke up this morning it’s already half through the casing. The culture looked good on agar too. Almost wanna chuck it out the window now, but I’ll let it ride it out a couple more days.

First tray, looks like you could case. Second needs a little bit longer I would think. How long have these been colonizing?

I had just posted that pic of my pan myc on agar and the whole plate turned blueish whenever I did transfers. I think it definitely is producing actives.

Let me see the manure your using. Bulk being too dense is what trips a lot of ppl up imo

well im wondering if your issues are maybe due to a lack of fae. and or periods of evaporation and resaturation so to say. its also unusual to not see any kind of condensation or droplets on the sides of the fc especially for a pan grow so i wonder about your actual environmental conditions. what do u use to get the readings u came up with? most hydgometers r garbage anyway and i just use it as a kind of reference tool. but u should also post pics of your trays and your cultures on agar. also i didnt see u mention anything about your casing so what did u do for that also?? but there is some pics and info in the link in my signature. there u will find my methods along with links to jakes and asuras write ups also. this is just general mental spitballing of ideas from looking at the pics. its really too hard to tell whats going on without actual pics of the culture used and the colonized grain, substrate and casing. thats what will really help identify the issue(s) at hand 😃

First attempt at the cyans not an overwhelming success, but this tray I cased 5 days ago (06/09) started showing me some pins this morning there’s a few others but they’re even smaller at the moment.

Even if the half dozen pins I got right now are all that develop, I will be happy. And hopefully with everything I’ve learned in the short amount of time since putting my first tray into fruiting conditions, I bet the tray I cased two days ago will do even better.
Jake, would love one of those PHV prints. I love the color of those things.

Just a little update for you guys from the outdoor beds! They're both still doing great pumping out daily harvests with little to no care! I still can't believe how easy this was! I've collected probably 50+ prints from each bed! Here's a cute little Pan Jam cluster from this morning!
