Hey guys !

Some of you are playing with lights ? : Led Vs fluorescent, blue Vs full spectrum, power, distance, etc ?

I've stumbled upon this interesting thread regarding lighting experiments, and I started to participate :
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26675147#26675147

Side by side comparison full spectrum vs blue led (result to be highly mitigated)

So don't leave them sitting out on the counter for 48 hours before drying?

Lol I’ve had mine in a little bag in a drawer and when I saw this ran to put them in a jar.

I think they’ll be fine though since it dark and dry.

I’ll find out soon enough.

i harvest then i go straight to the dehydrator till completely cracker dry. usually takes 18-24 hrs pending on how full it is. but from there i go straight to vacuum sealed bags with a desiccant packet or 2 in there and store them in a airtight container of some sort. i use a 5 gallon bucket with silica gel kitty litter crystals in it stored in a cool dark place. i took out a bag the other night and they were just as good as they were when i put them in there 6 months ago. the vacuum sealer food saver i bought i feel was just as good and as valuable asset as my pressure cooker and my dehydrator.

What’s the deal with cinct?

From what I read in old threads they weren’t sure if it was weak or if people were confusing it with non actives that grew alongside it so they were dosing much less than they thought.

From what I understand there might be quite a bit of variation within Panaeolus cinctulus, so much so that there might be a couple different species that are currently called cincts. The ones I'm growing out are from Warren, Pennsylvania. They develop blue sclerotia (truffles). I'm not sure on the potency. Unknown error grew some out and I think he said they were a bit more potent than Psilocybe cubensis. I've also heard the effects are unique.

That’s cool man the warren county thread was one of the ones I read. Are you getting the blue stones?

Pans are great.

I was so excited to try them cuz I’d only had cubes. Then after finally growing some and thinking that was it I found out each type has a unique trip which made me even more into it than before.

I've only had one experience with Pans (Pan cyan) and it felt so different from my experiences with Psilocybe cubensis. Of course set and setting always play a role, so I'm hesitant to immediately point to chemical differences between Pan cyan and cubes, but a lot of you guys who are much more experienced with Pans provide some compelling anecdotes.

I am getting some of the blue stones. They were forming in the grain jars and seem to be forming even more rapidly in the substrate. Assuming all goes well, after I harvest the mushrooms I'll definitely dig through the substrate and see if there are any stones.

Yeah I’ve only had one type so far too, I think jams.

Imo there’s definitely chemical differences.

For me they’re way closer to acid or San Pedro than cubes.

Next time I’m gonna take them with cubes, I think it’ll be a really good mix.

So maybe you guys could
Help me out I’ve had these tropicalis trays in my gh for about 9 days. They ate the casing in 3-4 days but really haven’t done anything thing. Surface moister is maintained. Fan is run. Everything else in the gh is going fine

My pan jam tray is knotting up like crazy but no action from the tropicalis.

Thinking about maybe putting on a casing of something non nutritious.that way it doesn’t continue to grow but has something to maintain it

Alright I just spawned my first trays. Is the bulk supposed to smell awful after pasteurization? The hpoo really didn’t have any smell when dry, but when I cut open the vacuum seal bags the pasteurized bulk was in, it about knocked me on my ass. It smells like shit, I just didn’t think the addition of straw, water, and heat would turn it from almost no smell to making the room smell like dung.

When I first got the hpoo I told my girl she wouldn’t have to worry about it stinking up the house  which obviously I didn’t know, but I had to tell her that in order to get it in the apartment.

I know it’s hard to say, but does this look right? Spawned at a 1:4 ratio into a 9x13 glass tray and put a thin layer of bulk on top to cover the exposed seeds. Covered with foil and used a pen to poke 6 holes in the foil.

The jars that were ready weren’t the thin mycelium you look for in cyans, it was pretty thick growth, but I have a few jars of the preferred wispy mycelium that I’m going to g2g tonight so I can get some better trays incubating in a couple weeks.
Finally on my way

Does it smell like a port-o-potty? Then it's bad.

Not exactly a Johnny on the spot, if we’re going for accuracy I’d say it smells very much like dog shit, but a bit more pungent.
If it is bad, any idea what the problem might be?
I loaded the bulk into vacuum seal bag, but I didn’t suck all of the air out. Is that the problem? If I’d pasteurized in jars there would have been air in there so I didn’t think that would be an issue. Or is it the fact it was in a air tight sealed bag for two days, and if so should I have just cut a hole in the bag after it’s finished pasteurizing? I pasteurized at 162F for 12 hours, then let it sit for 2 days (I wanted to wait the full 5 days that Jake does but my spawn had already been consolidating for 10 days so I didn’t wanna push it any longer) and that’s really the only pertinent details I can think of.

Edit:
I genuinely hope I fucked this up, cause if this is the norm I don’t think I have what it takes to grow pans. The room my greenhouse is in makes me nauseous every time I go in there. I’m tossing the trays. I don’t even want to bother cleaning the trays cause this shit really sticks to my nose hairs. Think I’m gonna just throw the entire tray in the trash.

If any of you pan growers know of a good step by step (bonus points for a tek with pictures. Pictures are everything to me when learning to do something I’ve never done before) for pasteurizing I’d very much appreciate a link.
