So these seem to be doing great I put them into fruiting two days ago now and they’ve almost chewed through the casing. So why does it seem like pan tropicalis and pan jams are the easiest to grow. For me at least. I have been deeply struggling with pan cyan Hawaiian and aussie. I made eye bags and jars with all four and the Jamaicans and tropicalis show vigorous growth(even faster than the cube bags I have growing side by side) while the Aussie and Hawaiian seemed to have slowed down to An almost halt halfway through.

Really cool and a little wtf to see these dudes popping up outta nowhere with panopies. As asura said, can someone turn my lightswitch back on please? I'm in deep with no legitimate pan fruits for months.

So can i use bagged steer manure until i have a chance to go pick up some more field aged hpoo?
Is it risky, if i mix with straw, precise moisture, and verm?
I bought a bag like 4yrs ago ive never used, but now im out of the good stuff
Anyone aware of any issues with it (assuming its properly fluffed up w straw and verm and maybe some coir) ?

c10 you have two questions there.
Before I had access to hpoo I used BK and had some decent yields on pan bisporus. Even some 5+ gram fruits.

Lately I just can't get pins I don't know what my problem is I've been experimenting with RH and FAE.

Not tons of pins but a few in every single tray (6 in total) where I test my 6 different Pan Ausi clones. So excited! hope I get atleast 1 good culture from this test. Pictures in a few days as long as everything goes according to the plan.
Agree with you Grim. So awesome to see all these people growing Pans. When first looking into then I get intimidated when there were so rare to be cultivated. Thought they would be crazy hard to cultivate. Turns out it's just a bit more of a challenge and I'm up for a challenge! (Girlfriend would laugh reading this and tell you guys. That's not what is sounded like after my 7th failure in a row before my first pins )

I would pasteurize it before you use it, but cow/steer poo works great, I've even used the commercial manure Black kow but it can be muddy so I mix in some verm and coir to help drain better when trying to get to field capacity.
Any manure substrate will carry more risk of contaminants than using plain coir, pasteurization is necessary but not sterilization.

Thanks Doc!!
Asura, if you were gonna use some of that outta the bag steer manure, how would you adjust water content? Just treat it the same as the bone dry hpoo i been using? Bagged stuff seems more moist (plus its like 4 or 5 yr old)
My currently colonizing bags look much better! 2 days in and lookin good so far

How do you all prep your straw? Most teks have their recipes by volume, but the more ya chop the straw up, the less volume it takes up. I’ve been chopping it up by hand with scissors (ouch. This sucks balls) into roughly one inch pieces, but there’s pieces as small as a half inch to as large as 5 inches in there after hand cutting.
Considering my substrate depth is only going to be 2 inches i worry the straw may not want to sit flush with the rest of the bulk. So I started mulching it with my tiny ass nutribullet (blender broke years ago and never had the need to replace it) but the difference in volume between the scissor cut pieces and the blended up stuff is very noticeable.
Blended

Scissor cut
Should I just stick with my hand cut scissor pieces or should I continue blending it with my nutribullet to get the straw Into short, fine pieces?
I’ve searched, but didn’t really find anything specific to pans. A similar question was asked in the JOC tek thread but the pictures that accompanied it have since been taken down so I’m not sure what exactly I’m looking for.

I’m thinking I’ll leave these till tomorrow morning (10 hours). Mistake? Will they be a huge spore mess? Should I harvest tonight? (Got more than 5 fruits on the second flush too...)

Nice work Psilo!
Now that's it guys, so many of you are having great results I've gotta get back at it. Starting from spores today!
Got plenty spores to choose from.. suggestions? Is any one variety 'easier' than the others?

No sure. But pretty certain that Asura once told me that Pan Australian was very forgiving.
It's the only one I got to fruit so I guess that says something Happy to hear you're giving pan another shoot! Did you ever get anymore fruit than the kit you had awhile back? (God do I love the trip I get from Pans tried them 5 times now)
