Thanks Asura! Print came from you. You mentioned before that it happened to you aswell that yours didn't drop spores. Was this very common for them to be sporeless? Wanted prints but ofcourse I only got sporeless ones so that's what I cloned.
It didn't used to be...but I've had 3 Aussie grows that didn't drop now. I have some new genetics from Queensland (Gardners Falls) that I am running now. Hoping these will get things back on track.

Jeez jake those are huge. That one on the left could be a cube.
If you could work that culture into a full tray of those monsters you’d have the most popular variety known to man.

Tragedy has struck ?
So i properly pasteurized 60% straw 40% manure, spawned 2qt pan cyan alabama, and 8 days later nothing
I think maybe i prepped it too wet?
Jars smelled great, looked great..
I have some single jars of 2 other cultures of alabama, 1 jam, and 1 wild coast ready (planned to g2g them while this was fruiting).. plan on using jcms fruiting chamber..
Maybe i shohld spawn them to smaller bags, pie pan sized amounts to try multiple at a time instead of single 20x10 trays like i planned to do with that big bag?
Or g2g them and try again with the same scale i did the alabamas?
Really appreciate any advice

My bulk looks like it has more manure than that unless your manure is just really light? I’ve had that before too it works really well actually it’s like a brownish green and super fluffy. The manure I’m working with atm is black and fluffy but u like the lighter stuff better. That should not have stoped it from colonizing tho. I always say check the spawn first

C10. Ypue ratios of straw and manure it's in volume and not weight, right? Guess that could be a thing you missed

I did it by volume, should i be doing dry manure and dry straw by weight?
I know i prepped it on the wet side
Spawn seemed perfect, looked and smelled beautiful
I do use very old very dry hpoo, it pretty much turns into a powder when crumbling it
Damn i was really hoping it would work out. The top (drier part) has at least recovered a little bit but the bottom grains arent doing much at all, and they are in the wetter part
I feel like it has to be the sub, because i g2gd some grain from the same batch 5 days later and it looks great, 2 days after g2g. Meanwhile the sub bag basically looks like it did the day i made it

No. You did it correct. I also and as far as I know Asura adwell go by volume.
But first time I did it I weight everything so it would be easier the next time around. For me using 200g hpoo and 200g straw plus 30-50g verm give or take.
Gives me a substrate weight if 450g. Too that I add 750g water. That gives me 62.5% hydration. That is the perfect amount for 2 of my plastic trays. (Someones Jake use)

I'll do a by volume at first, but then by weight because it's easier to replicate at that point and my subs are consistent.
I do 62.5% water as well. Don't know how we all came up with that, but it's dead on.
@c10, those bags look a lot different than mine. Maybe there is just a lot of unmixed straw on the outside???

I mixed it pretty thoroughly, but my manure is super aged and powdery when broken up
I didnt use a precise amount of water, jusy mixed them in a big tub (after soakimg straw) then added water till everything was wet and drained and squeezed off the excess.. seemed right for what i use with cubes, but i think it was yoo wet because i had a bit of pooling in the bag. Still would expect at least the yop to colonize though.. clearly i did something wrong
To do a precise amount of water, are you adding thay to totally dry manure and straw? Rather than prehydrating them?
My manure is bone dry, and will probably still have some small dry chunks if i dont hydrate it well.. really appreciate any advice
Also, how much spawn are yall using for a 10x20 tray?

I start with everything completely dry. I have everything converted to weight, even the water, so I can recreate it perfectly every time. I know my water % will always be 62.5%.
I don't know what a 10x20 tray holds. I guess you could fill up quart jars and pour in the tray to figure out your sub volume.
I use 3 or 4 quart Pyrex trays, so my bags will have 3 or 4 quarts of sub...usually 3.5. Since those quarts aren't totally packed, I'm left with just the right amount of room for casing. Not exact but it always works out.

I know this might be the dumbest question. I'm sorry I'm advance. I've never heard anybody complain about side pinning pans. Do they not cause the environment you need is only on top unlike cubes??
