Thanks for getting me started man.
I spotted them when I went to apply the casing. I should probably clone one.

I didn't cover them. I just put the casing around the pins and gave the tub a little shake to make it settle around them. I probably could've done without, but the sub is thin and it's pretty dry weather right now.

got my first real-ish fruit coming in.
and I counted 3 other pins on the way.
I don't think it'll be impressive by any means, but I'll be stoked if I can take a print from at least one.
does it look too wet to you guys?

Here's a write up on what I did.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22812695
I harvested the last bit that needed to finish maturing tonight for another 78 wet grams and the original 144 or whatever it came out too dried up to a total of 8.5ish. Total will be updated in that link tomorrow

Well the bisporus is fucked. Way too slow on grain, its never going to make it. Going to try and transfer the old plate a bunch see if I can get some fast healthy growth and then LI it. Aint givin up on it.
One of the pan cyan jars is good enough for a shake. I'll do that tonight or tomorrow.

My tub is on its 10th day, its fully colonized but just a couple of small patches on the bottom aren't colonized...
Option 1: Wait till all small bottom patches colonize..
Option 2: Case and introduce to fruiting?

So the entire surface is white? Just small patches of the bottom are showing.. how big are they tho? Gotta have pics to confirm.
The thin pan mycelium will not always be able to fully colonize all parts of the bulk sub, like cube mycelium does.
I've read that people fruit their bulk subs on like the 6th day. Others choose to wait a few extra days for consolidation. This is not completely necessary, the bulk sub will fruit when it's ready, it might just take an extra week to see pins.
If the surface is covered tho, I say go for it.

What do you guys have the best luck with for pans as far as spawn ratio? Shea25 says 1:2, is that still pretty common practice?
Also, how good is cvg for a casing for the pans? I have some poo for the sub and wanted to try doing azur's method with the poly in and casing at spawn, though maybe I should get some fruits the normal way first. I have some cactus mix which I've heard works with a little verm so maybe I'll just do both.

pan myc is aggressive as fuck, not just thin and unable to colonize stuff. 1:2 is a good ratio. CV casings work fine on pans just do them a little deeper since pan myc likes to eat.

Excellent. I was going to try to do 3 different varieties, but only the goliath is doing well. It's already colonized a master and used to g2g. The Pan Trop and Cyan Florida are like 25% colonized and they were all inoc'd the same day with wedges. I feel like I'm only growing cubes to occupy the time I have to wait for these slow bitches

Depends on the strength of the culture, but I definitely wouldn't go as far as saying they're "aggressive as fuck".
Coir/verm works great, but it's best to case with a thin layer (1/4" or less). If you case too thick, pin formation will be pushed back up to a week or more IME. Not necessarily a bad thing, but why waste the extra time waiting for the pins to make their way through.
