It's really hard to say. I would just be speculating. Try it? More FAE the better is what I would say. Just can't say how that will affect your situation.
The pans will be fine in the fridge for a day or so. I've done that before.
Drops in RH for short periods are no big deal. I cycle my FC all the time when I open the door to check on things.

Also in my experience the fruits from little cakes tend to be smaller than those from trays all else being equal. I just fruited a couple trays and 5 smallish cakes, all from the same LC, and the fruits from the trays were a lot bigger both in cap diameter and stipe thickness.
Oh and another factor, the cakes were in pp5 containers. Three cakes were in shallower containers and the casing reach almost right up to the top of the container. The other two were in slightly taller containers and have a good inch or so higher than the casing. The ones in the taller containers produced smaller fruits than those in the shallow containers. Which does point to a FAE issue. I noticed in your cakes the jars extend about a inch or so above the casing. Deeper containers trapping stale air or something. I recommend getting shallow pp5 containers for cakes, they fit more substrate than a 1/2 pint jar and they're not as tall.

Awesome thanks for sharing. I got 1 hig tray pinning from the same lc that already got thicker pins then the cake so I'm hoping is that
The hight of the container I so not think is a big factor. Because I have very good air circulation in the GH because of a fan running inside for 24/7. So not think there is a lot of stale air. Ciuls be very wrong tho.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Made me have higher Hope's for my trays!

Not the best, but I'm super happy just getting my first Pan pins And it's enough for me to try them for the first time Will try 0.5 or 1 gram dried. Most likely go with 0.5g..(scared) Pan Australian

I'm down to 1 small bottle of iso and about 20 pairs of gloves. Shit is getting real. I'm really organizing all my work so I can do a bunch at once.
4 trays going at 7 days with no pins. It happens. And some overlay, too.

Awesome Puduwoke great job!
I put 5qts of African pan spawn inthe fridge a week ago knowing the timing wasn't right to spawn/case while on vacation next week. Well my state just went on "stay at home" so out it comes and thawing out my frozen sub. Wish me luck boys hope it recovers.
Also put my FH, PC and slow Cookers on overtime today.

Happy Friday evening folks!
I am starting to think that maybe the casing I put on my Pan Jams had too much hydrated lime in it. I was only making a small batch and I was being lazy so I just kind of eyeballed it. To make matters worse I could not find my ph tester so I really have no idea what the final result was. For the most part it seems like the mycelium did not grow up into the casing. It did in a few spots and that is where I got a limited number of fruits.
I have not given up but I started thinking... what if I scraped the casing off, maybe roughed the surface of the substrate up a bit with a fork, and then re cased with properly "ph ed" casing.
Does that sound remotely feasible or would that much handling just kill them?

Psilo you raise an intriguing question. Is lime and ph for pinning or inhibiting growth through the casing or what? I've always been nervous about screwing with lime thinking it's easy to fuck up and just use jiffy mix pretty reliably. Amirite?

grim, I would say lime brings up the pH enough to make it unfriendly for contams and not appealing to myc, so as a humidity barrier it holds function. This is just observation, of course, from looking at spent subs that have made through 3+ flushes without contamination and the casing layer is still visibly separate and distinct from the substrate.
Without a probe it is extremely easy to fuck up. Calcium carbonate is easier because you can just throw in a handful and know you'll be around 7.2 or so.
