They are super potent(in my book)-but I havnt sampled any of the other pan varieties on a regular basis that I could compare them too-and am not someone who regularly takes large doses. Id expect them to be about the same as all the others.

I managed to clone a Bisporus from a stem about 2mm thick. You need to just scrape off the inner tissue, fortunately that is easy.

The stipes on pans would be harder to do the "poke" with I think. Not just because of the size but the tissue is like long hairs packed tightly together. I've always had to slice long pieces from the inner tissue.

thank u thats a perfect way to describe that. i was tryin to think of a way and thats exactly how i had to do it. it can be a pain in the ass when you have really thin stemmed fruits tho. its a good thing you only need a lil bit

I'm also pretty sure it could be done with sharp-tip tweezers. But scraping it with a scalpel is not a prob.

I use these tongs that came with a phone repair kit just to hold the stipe. Then 3 cuts. The first two cuts make a /\ shape, then I cut a long slice from where it makes a point. And with my shit eye sight it is not fun.

I have an excellent eyesight but cutting out a piece of tissue from a 2mm stem is literally impossible. That's why I tried to scrape instead, and it worked.

Sometimes I get lucky with agar pins.
I suck at taking inner tissue, going to try the /\ cut next time.

Love the shape of the caps on those Jalisco! Nice work!
Question for you folks. The only other time I grew pans I recall the fruits kind of emerged from beneath the casing, the pan jams (all two of them) seem to be doing the same. Is that typical?
Also if you had to guess which is a more important pinning trigger ... evaporation/RH drops or temperature? (Or neither) I’m just wondering if I should be patient or fiddle with a parameter to get more pins. The RH is staying 90-99% temp is 78-79. I’m trying to get it warmer but I may need another heater.

i keep a constant temp between 78-81 and a constant rh of 95-99 woth dips down to 80 or so when fans are on. but a wet casing and good evap and re wetting of the casing is the best. but thats just what i have noticed for me. i have noticed my pins seem to start on the top of the casing more than below it. tiny lil knots form and turn into pins il c if i have a pic

Thanks! I’ve ordered a small fan that I’m going to set on a timer to draw in fresh dry air for a few minutes every 2-3 hours or so.
I may get a second heater so I can push that temp up to 82.

Hey guys Anyone has any comments on this?
So all the other mushrooms are growing perfectly and fast as hell! Just now after work I noticed that 1 and only 1 mushroom look like it's already opened up.
I guess it wont grow a lot more or is this "normal" with pans?
To me it looks like he won't get that much bigger because it already started opening up. There is other mushrooms around it that is bigger and yet it open up

Some pictures of the other Pan-cakes

Pans do not get very big, but they do get bigger than that under ideal conditions. I’m not experienced enough to comment further other than to repeat what I read Jakeoncid wrote... that there does not seem to be a loss in potency as the open up and curl upwards. So as long as the fruits are still firm let them keep growing and unfurling their caps.
You’re doing great compared to my current grow. On that note, this morning I did notice a few more pins. However it occurred to me that the substrate might be drying out a bit so I added a fair bit of water - mostly around the edges. I’m hoping this stimulates more of a flush.
