So about to try pan cyan and have a question on wheat straw. I found 100% wheat straw pellets called oxbow Eco straw pellets. Would these work instead of actual wheat straw? It would be easier to work with imo.

I'm having the same problem with pins staying small and not maturing. Since I posted last I started hand watering  a lot and I fan every 40 minutes throughout the day and every 3 hours at night.

Tons of new pins popped up, I mean tons! But they all still stall out around a quarter to a half inch. Then new pins come up and stop at the same height. I cant figure this out. Very few are aborting and turning dark, most still look normal just stalled. Amy ideas?

If I remember correctly, Mary FairChilds apporach was to let it at 97-98% RH constantly before pinning, and at 94-96% constantly after pinning. I think you asked her about this in on of her journal growth threads, but she did not answer. Did you get any news on this?

I know it sounds more reasonable to switch RHs, on first sight. But is it really? There seem to be people who keep it steady on well over 90% and keep getting impressive results.

Yeah I mean I’ve seen it done in traditional Martha’s perhaps it’s more depending upon genetics but I find it’s much easier to force out your pin set by cycling your humidity I’m really not sure how other teks work for them.

Kia ora all,

After being inspired by bluelou's 'shit piles', I'm experimenting with non sterile techniques at the moment, with the current plan to transfer healthy pan myc I have on cardboard straight to cow poo outdoors. I have a couple variations going, mixing up the bulk with straw in different ratios.

I've gathered sun dried cow pats from my local fields which I know pan's (and possibly cubensis) grow from. I'm going to pasteurize half of it, and see if I can get away without doing the other half.

I know a lot of this up to experimentation and growing skills/experience but does anyone have any input on pastuerized vs un-pastuerized in my situation? Churr fellas

I go right to fruiting after casing...and as far as I know that's what Blue Helix and mary do as well.

Nah it's not dry the yellow is just straw.

Almost have to fruit at casing anyway. I only left a half inch or so clearance from the lid.

Hello friends, this thread is awesome!

I been gone for a while, but want to get up to speed on what people are doing with pans these days

Can anyone be so kind as to link me to these write ups by Jake, Asura, and Mary that everyone keeps referencing?

Thanks!

I'm pretty much deriving my methods from JOC's.
With heavy influence from BH, Mary, and Asura.
Also, this whole damn thread is largely worth paging through.
