That’s one I was considering running for a first try.

I'm excited for the mason jar that is on the far right.
It already colonized like 25% of the jar while the others barely colonized the surface.
Thinking in saving the culture before the spawn to bulk.

Just to be clear, I know SS from back in the day and hold him in very high regard. Don't need you old timers thinking nooby is taking shots at your buddy who's not here to defend himself. Easy as Cubes is subjective though
These ones are Def me right now. I really do think these are easier than cubes as long as you can make clean spawn. I have a lot to learn but pans are fun to work with.
Speaking of Stone Sun, this is the first fruit from my RDU trays. These are from a 2012 Stone Sun print that another member shared. These are two early birds, the rest of the pins are small still.

I'm kind of with you there, spirit. They certainly weren't easy at first but it does get easier and it grows on you. I am so nervous right now because I have all these cubes started for LAGM 2020 and I honestly don't know how it's going to turn out. I did cubes about a year ago I think, but just a small batch

Update on the Tropicalis. A couple weeks ago I transferred small agar wedges to grains and they're slowly chugging along. I also did some transfers to MEA+chloramphenicol and MEA+peptone plates which were both even slower than on plain MEA and PDA plates. I don't know why they're so slow. Doesn't seem bacterial and other things are doing well on the same batch of agar. Maybe the temperature is too low for this species? Think I'll just get these fruiting as quickly as possible and then not bother with them again.
On the positive side Alabama is looking very good on agar and will be put to grains soon. Roll tide.

@Asura I'm about to pc some pan sub. I was reading your tek. I know you pc for 4 hour. But I was wondering, what's the shortest time you pced your substrate with success?
I will go ahead and do just 2.5h. Mostly because my bags and quite small. 800g each.

The common thread in the canopy club is a green house. Once y’all got that shit figured out you certainly made pans look a hell of a lot easier. Not that there haven't been great grows in tubs, but if you read through the early pages of this thread there’s a lot of tubs with just a few lonely fruits. The process may have been as easy as cubes but getting good yields with pans looks harder than cubes. From over here it looks like the canopy club members have had to dedicate more time, money, space, etc. to making the literal fruits of your labor worth it when comparing to cubes. As the interest grows so does the innovation. Maybe in 5 years there will be easier methods that don’t require all the equipment currently needed.

Thanks, I have fun making them. Spread the giggles . I need a break from reading about this shit all day, taking in too much information and it’s overflowing now and just swimming in my head. Been taking a break in the pub the last few days instead of staying here in cult. Need to focus on one step at a time instead of trying to get everything figured out at once. You should see all my electronic devices...phone, laptop, and desktop all have 15+ tabs of shroomery threads open on my browsers and that's been the case for 2+ months now.
I’ve known I wanted to grow pans since I first tried them in ~2013, but now I found the misc exotic thread. While I knew all of those mushrooms existed, I’d never really considered that any of them could be cultivated indoors and be better than pans. That’s a whole new can of worms that I don’t have the mental capacity to open yet but I'm still gonna

I can totally relate to that. Since I started this hobby it takes most of my spare time, and even some of my "duty time"...
I also have like 20 tabs open all the time. If it gets you, it gets you.

I've been blessed with my new job because I'm usually able to get my days work finished by lunch so I've been able to spend 3-4 hours of my 8 hour work day reading through this thread (and others, mostly just this one though and the journals of the people in here). Then on weekends doing all the agar work. Milady didn't know what she was getting herself into when she asked me if I could get her boomers to use for microdosing. I didn't know either. It got me alright.
