I've heard that a lot as well. Seems like it's based off of personal experience. Maybe soon we'll be saying a pans a pan

They are totally different species right? They grow in completely different locations and have different microscopic and macroscopic features, but why are they all so much more potent? Are there many Pan species that are active?

I beg to differ.
I've found bisporus to be more.
I've also found them to be cleaner. Cyans are called blue meanies for a reason. At higher doses Cyans can be difficult.
People with experience with pans know what I'm talking about.
Either way, they are all mostly comparable.
I'm just biased for bisporus. It's my favorite mushroom of all time.

No there not. Cambos and trops are on about the same level in the number 2 spot. Cyans are far and away the moste potent pans.

Cambos from what Ive read in this thread. Cyans are pretty great too though
speaking of Pan Cyans, I had a bag go bad on me recently and I cant think of why. It was g2g from a clean qt jar, inoculated via agar wedge, to 3qts of rye/wbs. The bag took a while to colonize and condensation inside the bag stalled it out completely. I had also made 2 other bags from that same batch of grainspawn though and g2g them from qt jars of cube mycelium and theyve gone on to spawning already. What could have caused the condensation build up in that bag but not the cubes? my rooms pretty moderate on temps, a couple degrees warmer when Im home and have my computer and monitor on

Definitely didn't want to start an argument about which variety is better but thanks for all the feedback. I guess I'll just go with whichever grows the cleanest.
Why does nobody talk about Trops? Are they just less common, or actually not as good?
My space keeps a pretty constant 19c which I know is too cold for pans, I also know that heating pads are pretty much never used in mycology but could I get away with using the reptile pad that I've got if I put some layers of something in between so that it's only warming it a little bit? Or does the entire space need to be warmed up?

Definitely use a space heater in your grow room if your temps are that low, It's possible for pans to fruit at 19c, but they'll take a while to pin up.

I really like trops. They are kind of rare as far as pans go. That's probably why you don't see them around that much.

No argument on my part. I was just plugging bisporus since I find it cleaner.
To each their own.
Pans are really too close for a definitive answer for that. You'll like any that you can get to fruit.

hey brothers and sisters!
just noticed some pins in my very first attempt at both pan cyans and monotubs!

I cased them six days ago and they appeared a lot faster than I thought they would
here's a pic of my mono
 no extra holes or anything
hope they mature, I hear these guys love to abort but so far so good

Sweet pins dude! That's very exciting.

thank you sir
I noticed on their analysis they mentioned dry matter, I wonder what the results would be in a fresh sample. and are they saying there is no serotonin in cambos?
