Guys, i don't get something. Against the light, this plate in example, it looks kind of wispy, but there are wispy areas that are more dense that the others. So what do we want wispy dense or less wispy dense? (On the picture, black is dense wispy and purple is less dense wispy).

Without being against the light it looks all wispy to me.

Dense growths I often result in overlay. At best I get a good set of cluster just shy of a canopy. All my full no daylight pan canopies came from light wispy growth. Such that once your jar is fully colonized all you have to do is turn it upside down and it talks mostly apart

Non dense is better suited but you will know when you wee truly dense growth it looks like 1/8 " thick bright white mongrel on a plate

The difference there is the nute profile of the agar I can see that my agar has more nutes in it than yours just by looking at it

Oh i see So i'm using 9 grams of Light Malt Extract in 500 ml water, what are you using in that picture, standard 10 grams? Are you using yeast as well?
In that case using low nutes helps identifying whispy growth when starting from spores?

Yeah I got like 6 gs of peptone 5 gs malt extract 4gs potatoe starch, .4g yeast 18g agar .05gs gentamicin. Yes lower nute profiles are good for making myc reach these are my inoculation dishes

Is there any inconvenience if i keep isolating with a low nute profile? Or why would you use a higher nute profile at a later stage? Also you use gentamicin antibiotics?

When I Innoc my jars the wedges disintegrate I’ve been playing with different recipes for a while now it doesn’t make a huge difference but so far this recipe seems to work best for inoculation
