Fuck those cheap meters. A real pH probe makes all the difference. The only problem is that once you dial in a good casing recipe, you won't need the probe anymore.
As for water...we use distilled water. No tap water guessing games.

I mean this is the one I use to set my recipes with Worked fine for me but ur right I don’t use it once I make the recipe I just use 4- 4.5 qt pm 3-3.5 qt verm Few handfuls of COS and the. Just eyeball a tbl spoon of hydrated lime. They really don’t seem to be that picky, I’ve never had issues with case other than it being too thick

Right on, yea the probes I'd trust more so then any store bought sensor. I've been using tap water for a long time, sigh... As long as your using the same exact ingredients every time, there shouldn't be any differences. So what ph should the casing material be? Also wouldn't be a bad thing to use the probe every time to just verify everything.I'm just trying to learn as much as possible, would love to grow like jake!

7.5 lol u want 7.5
And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Node. Then, shalt thou count to 7.5. No more. No less. 7.5 shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be 7.5. 8.5 shalt thou not count, nor either count thou 6, excepting that thou then proceed to 7.5. 9 is right out. Once the number 7.5, being the 7 and a half number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy pan case of Antioch towards thy sub, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."
Here is a shot of my mutant cross pan cyan var Haustralian venom (purple spore mutant) before casing. I could case this now (5 days since bulking) but I have a pan bam tray that will be ready In the usual amount of time (7 days) and I’ll just case together.

Jake, everyone knows you want 7.7. This is common knowledge.
Anyway, I thought you meant one of these: https://smile.amazon.com/Atree-Tester-Moisture-Outdoor-Battery/dp/B07R4RPS54/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=soil+probe&qid=1572313718&sr=8-6
And I have two bags of Huasteca Purps coming out of their bags on Thurs. Cannot wait!

hey yall, what's your thoughts on adding coir to pan cyan substrates? my wild florida jars are finished colonizing and its time to make the substrate. I have around 3 gallons of beautifully prepped coir, so...
Does 2qt coir, 1qt dried manure, and 1qt chopped straw sound good? I would obviously bring the shit to capacity first, then add to the coir and straw, and then pasteurize. Id be spawning tomorrow night. does this sound like a solid plan? I just really dont want to fuck this quart up and it's hard to find information on just fruiting 1qt of grain spawn. I probably should have went a different route but ive only done cubes in jars to tubs up until now.

Coir gives no benefit to pans. Don’t waste your money. I like 60% chopped straw, 35% sun aged manure (ideally 50/50 horse cow but either will work) 5% verm I mix all together in bucket dry then bring to field capacity and load into 2.5 gallon ziplock bag and pasteurize in rice cooker @ 162 over night

I’ve heard of ppl using st8 straw with so so success. I’ve never tried manure is cheap & easy to work with so I’ve never really felt the need to try and replace it.

ITs a t3 ms culture from a wild florida print, i dont know how much thats going to affect anything though. I went with dung straw and verm, do i need to pastuerize my casing? Im planning on just using peat and verm, going to spawn 1qt to one of those purple latching sterilites. spawn to the tub with the pasteurized substrate, allow to recover (24/48hrs?) then case, correct? thats the standard procedure?
Also mush i cant find anything sutiable for pans in town either but shroom suppky got me right with the dung and straw, 12 bucks for a half gallon of each with 2 day shipping. Not a plug just leting a brother know thats a solid site.

let the sub colonize fully then case is the usual process if you're spawning to bulk.

The aged hpoo I've been getting is all pasture fed, meaning it looks like grass clippings. I imagine you could let grass or straw decay, then dry repeatedly and get similar results.

What is the best type of fruiting chamber that you guys use that gives you the best environmental conditions and biggest shrooms?
-->Greenhouse -->SGFC -->Shower/bathroom with humidifier and/or controller -->Don Shadows setup
I had some pan Australian ones going in the shower with a humidifier, controller and fan, but they came out really tiny:

I'm guessing greenhouse/Martha would rank number 1. Kind of curious where Monotubs tubs would rank though.
