You wouldnt want your LC to splash onto the micro-pore tape...
About the tape itself getting wet with solid agar in the jar, its no problem. Mine comes out of the pc wet from steam and air dries no problem.

Ok thanks. That's what I assumed and why I have it wrapped up but breathable. I think if I did the polyfill I'd be sure to make a mess. So I'm on 5 days waiting on this tropicalis. I have another tropicalis print and a pan jam I'm going to start right now. I don't know how old some of these are hopefully I see some activity this week. I also barely used any spores before, with these two I'm going to be a bit more generous.

Couple more pan porn pics for you all. Battling to keep conditions favorable due to heavy winds and heat on my outdoor tray - so fruits have coloured and bruised abit - but im still happy with the outcome. Still got lots to learn ...but I feel Im going in the right direction..
Yesterday....

Today... after yesterdays picking and beating from the sun and wind...still popping up like crazy....some funky bluing and splitting of caps...
Fruits are very small-but Ive selected a bunch of the bigger ones and have put them on some foil.
If they give resonable prints Ill do a giveaway for those interested.

Totally changed my set up from the big box to this Mary Fairchild inspired affair. I've not got the wicking humidifier, but I have a fan pointing upwards to send moisture to the top layer. The heat mat is in the middle and I'm just experimenting with this as I have only just assembled it and the initial thought was there wasn't enough heat with it at the bottom.
I'm concerned the tests and brf cakes have been sat in the previous set up for toolong and the casing kept going dry. I've given them a good must and left the humidifier on. Will just have to experiment and see. Must make more spawn.

A week no germination on agar. I let that syringe hydrate over night before I used it but it's been hydrating the whole time so I'm going to try it again. I trashed those agar and made more. Zero contams/zero Mycelium. I thought well fuck it, I'm trying this no soak Millet recipe out on three pint jars. I'm going to Ms to wbs with pan tropicalis. I will at least know if I like the recipe and I will know if there's anything alive in this syringe. Best case scenario I get tissue I can transfer/clean up grain>>>agar. Until I get some young spores I'm going to see what I can coax out of this print.

Can anyone advise me on casing mixes that don't involve peat moss? I've tried with a mix of cactus compost and verm, but it's expensive and I'm yet to see positive results.

I think most of us use peat moss based casings like cactus or jiffy mix.

Its possible to use pasteurized leaf litter straight from outside (avoid fresh leaves), or humus works too.
Seems iv messed up and nocked up a bunch of under sterilized tubs lol. "ok.. a bit bacterial... but its full colonized, o shh howd those bugs get in there!"
Nice day of pcing ahead lol.

Cased 4 tubs yesterday with straw. Straw tub, straw casing, seems to be doing well, got the fluffing up action going already.
Iv been just been examining my tubs recently left two alone uncased no dunk and they've been pinning, especially on the sides of the tub, with one fruiting & sporulating rn as it matures. It seems to me they are mature when the cap margin starts turning upward, so that's when I like to pick them.
cased those two with straw yesterday one time.
recently changed the perlite in my FC and its working but examining the environment it seems I could have put in more perlite to make it moister. When I check on it the walls are usually dry.
One of the best part of growing mushrooms to me is forgetting that your growing mushrooms lol.
