I use pasty's recipe also, but i just like to eye ball the amount of agar and flakes im putting in depending how much plates I'm doing lol.
And i have no problem with getting Pan mycelium to get going, these actually germinated in like 5 days or something, i guess they're nice and fresh spores.
But it's really weird they had this growth pattern, those parts which fox thought were bacteria (which actually seemed to be so because of the crappy picture), were to my guess, just mycelium which colonized its way through the agar and had weak/thin mat of mycelium on the surface, its very intriguing. ( that's why i think some parts of agar were losing their reddish colour and turning whitish/yellowish)
But we will tell in a day or so, I'll take pictures of the left over agar that was thought to be contaminated (they were transferred to grain), leaving aside the transferred 9 and 12 o'clock that were transferred to another agar dish to be further cleaned.

That's interesting. The agar will change to a whitish/yellowish color as the mycelium eats it's way all the way through the agar. That usually happens when the surface is completely covered tho. If it happens before that, then there could be a high level of bacteria present as Fox pointed out before.

EDIT: Decided to go ahead and tape up those bottom holes anyway. The uneven lid should provide enough GE.
Day 5

works well with cubes. i haven't tried the colonizatoion with poly for pans though. always did a tray with either foil over the top or saran wrap during colonization. i have to find this pan cyan plate i have hiding for the new year.

Cool, hopefully this tub will be ready to case in the next 5 days or so. Then it's fruiting time!

Its not that unusual for culture to have different types of mycelium. Sclerotia for example has fast/white/dense and slower/thinner/more colorful mycelium. But it is usualy only 1 type when you have isolate. P. cint for example also makes pseudosclerotia and p. cint plate looks weird too so I wouldnt be so narrow looking, if you belive your spores germinated than you probably have the right culture. If you want to be sure you have pan and not mold, make few transfers and check if the leftover agar bruises. If you want to be sure you dont have bacteria (which can be recognized by metabolites and weird bruising, tho bruising sometimes occurs naturally) you can drop wedge in hot agar and transfer the first mycelium you see growing. Simple as that
Btw i think your pics look fine Teemo The mushpunx guy in 48 page also have what looks like a legit culture IMO. He should check if it bruises

Although I'm not saying every funky white growth means it's a contamination... However, all those examples are contams. If you want to be 100% sure it's clean, and you don't have to roll the dice every time you grow, aim for organisation.
As stated in that thread, even pans can be organised.
This is a 100% clean pan culture. Using this I wouldn't be saying I'm making a risk come inocultion/spawn time. And it only took me 2 transfers to get it like this.

Wow, from now on i think I'll be more cautious lol, and i guess I'll be working with agar before shooting up jars..

Day 7:
The tub is starting to fluff up nicely. When should I consider casing and fruiting this? As you can see, the sides are barely colonized. I might wait for the whole thing to finish up.

Alright, I finally have something to contribute to this thread. I germinated some Pan. Cambo spores (Thank you Mr. Fox ) on 33% grain water agar. They germinated after a few days. Here's a pint master I inoculated on the 5th via wedge.

I have a quart going as well that I'm going to spawn in about a week.
