So I made that syringe of tropicalis instead of the pan cyan print bc I found it first in my collection. I see there's some debate about if all copelandia are the same. I'm not much concerned if they are or not but can I assume that if I follow the teks for pan cyan then it will work for these also?

All  panaeolus will grow in the same conditions so cyans tropicalis bisporous even cinctulus

Do these 2 plates look like they have a contam hidden underneath? Been having a hard time getting clean growth to transfer from with these senguio. My best attempts have yielded this so far which is very slow growing and doesn't look like pan myc I've worked with before. They're not as white looking in person. Any suggestions on where to transfer or if I should go back to germ greatly appreciated.
Here's the first one.

And here's the 2nd

Almost looks like cinctulus mycelium.

It looks heavily contamed to me. Looks like you have a leading edge on one of
those plate to transfer from at least.

That's what I thought. Where would you suggest taking the transfer from? Ive been having a hard time with this one. Every streak plate has contams along the entire streak no matter how lightly I streak using the same method as you do to try and get discreet colonies....

I did many many plates when got into agar, and im down from 30 to 20-15. Surely a learning experience! Oh how I hate contams... I do have a cambo plate near 100%, was going to spawn to a jar of sterilized rice, then transfer to a sterilized bag of bulk, n tub it.

My spore syringe plates had less contam then the streak plates, but do need to get a better scalpel n innoc loop

You think that's pan myc? Looks awefully brown/tan and maybe even a little too thin. I got a new phone and the camera makes things look a lot whiter than they actually are. I'll take a pic of it next to a clean pan plate as reference.

With regard to substrate, I shouldn’t have any trouble using hpoo at ~60% or so, with coir, verm, and a little gypsum to make up the rest, right? I’ve never used straw and I don’t feel like adding it in now unless this plan is a fail.

I've seen grow reports, where people grow panaeolus mycelium without any grain at all. Just take wet manure mixed with straw, put this mix in jars and sterilize in PC. Then inoculate with water based spore syringe.

Then when jars are fully colonized, use peat with verm to make casing ant put to fruit chamber.
So, no grain used on any stage of grow.
Did someone try this method?

Pan cyans love manure in the wild. So it makes perfect sense.

Nice jars there

Not this method exactly, but I do this in myco bags. My substrate does have a little supplemental
grain in it, though, but not much...not even 1:4.

I am absolutely sure you could get fruits using your approach...but I think you would get more if
you were able to crumble up those jars after full colonization and put them in a tray. Hell, I
could be wrong, though. I'm excited to see your results.

Ok here's some comparisons. The structure of the myc in question is very similar to pans but it's a lot darker than any pan myc I've seen before(which isn't THAT much) lol and it's stuck flat against the agar. No fluff to it at all and almost has a shine to it. Any tips on isolating away from a particularly persistent contam including those that slightly outrace the leading edge. I have a mazatec culture with some similar looking contam. It keep pinning ball shaped pins. Not sure if that because of the contam or if it's a mutation yet though

Not sure if pan mycelium would die in the refrigerator but in the woodlovers thread it was mentioned that wood loving mycelium would outpace all comtams in the fridge.  Maybe experiment with one plate?

How low do you think you could go on pan cyan colonization temps?

What about fruiting temps? It’s winter here , maybe it’s the perfect time to fruit?
