Was thinking grain spawn add and mix in the soil with compose and well ye Any pointers? Would you say to first grow inside before outside?
If using grain spawn make sure to have some sort of protective barrier- any small mammals in the area will dig through the patch to consume the myceliated grains
There was a whole outdoor growing thread somewhere, too lazy to find.

Should I be incubating my pan cyans and bisporus germ plates if room temp is around 70-73F?
No signs of life after putting spores to agar a week ago.

Ime outdoor pan patches are harder than indoor. You either have to create or hope for ideal fruiting conditions. It always got too dry in the day even in shade but it can be done

Does anyone know how to differentiate between Pan Cyan and Pan Cambodginiensis? I developed this from wild spores I collected in Cambodia and I don't know how to positively ID it.
It is possible I may have both and if so I want to sort my prints and cultures. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I think I may have figured it out based on the measurements my friend who is a science teacher took. This specimen is 11mm long which I believe is consistent with Pan Cambo.
The other prints I gave him where 13mm long according to his calculations and I believe those are Pan Cyan.
Does that sound right? If I indeed have both types it explains the variation in the fruit in terms of color and size.
Fyi this was an oil immersion at 1000x.

There arent many. you will have to settle for woodlovers / cubensis outdoor techs. And yes before wasting spawn grow them inside first, get it working, think about it and then try something new.
Stone producers can do well outdoors also at least in flowerpots anyways. I haven't made an in ground patch with them yet

Your spore sizes are not going to be enough to 100% determine wether they came from pan cam or pan cyan. While on average the spore size of pan cyans is usually larger I’ve measured hundreds of slides from both species and the sizes can range from 9.25 to 16, from both species. You would need to prepare a crush mount and count the basidia to get be able to determine which is which but even then it’s not 100% as there are anomaly’s. See See the Copelandia key in Gerhardt 1996 For an idea of what has been recorded but to know for sure you need to do genetic sequencing (Send to alvalab.es for ITS sequencing) Other than that the best you can do is measure 30 spores, then drop the largest and smallest 5 percent and look at the ranges to make a meaningful comparison but for the most part Without comparing spore size measurements to sequence data there is no way of knowing how accurate it is. The sequencing let's you know which features to pay attention to and which are variable.

Pan success
Haven’t taken the lid off yet but they’re looking good. It’s a jungle in there. These are pan cyan Florida variety thanks to bumholio for the print. So much taller and spaghetti like than the aussies I have grown. Hoping to get some nice prints but this flush looks like tiny caps and no signs of spores yet.

Will they still drop spores or is the likelihood reduced without more fae?

Jake you're the man..thanks. I'm kind of excited in a geeky way to try a "crush mount". I'm going to incorporate that term into my vocabulary...netflix and crush mount?

Very happy with this first flush of beautiful noodles.
Going to setup my GH today and try to dial it in for the second flush. These mini seedling GHs don’t allow for much in between very little FAE and far too much. I think for well developed fruits dropping lots of spores i’ll need a setup much like the ones that are common in this thread (looking at jake, asura, Mary, Blue Helix and co.)

Hey so I've been working on cleaning up a dirty wild pan print and have been having some trouble (most dont even germinate before bacteria and/or mold take over). I got one plate to germinate amongst a sea of bacteria and trich and was able to transfer to a few plates and got one of those to grow some mycelium with a bunch of bacteria but didn't end up being able to get a clean sample from it. So I've got a question about temps. I've been keeping plates in my kitchen cupboard where it's been staying in the high 70s and sometimes low 80s due to the hot weather. Well its cooled significantly in the last couple days and now that same space stays in the high 60s to low 70s. Would I have better luck keeping my plates here where temps are lower in the Hope's of slowed bacterial growth or should I move them to the garage where temps are in the low 80s in the day and low 70s at night?

Dude that is fucking gnarly man. That's an amazing flush. You gotta get some more air to those guys for the second flush and get some bigger caps. But damn you have to be happy with that.

Yea man, cheers - I am very happy Not sure if you remember about 6 months ago I was posting about constant failure with my pans so after a bit of hiatus this is a great feeling to have them around again. Next - I’ve got a green house, humidifier, fans and humidity and temp sensor, just need to set it up.
