Need some advice, I got into a WTH moment and knocked up a BRF cake with Jamaica. I didn't even think it would colonize.... Well it's within a day or two if being done. Never grown pans but wanna get into it. What should I do with this thing? I thought about pasturizing some poo, straw and coir to mix it with in a thin pan and fruit in my SGFC. Would that work???

Yup there are a few ways you can go. You can fruit the cakes but thatβs not really my area of expertise, I would say use it to hit straw poo and verm bulk (pasteurized) In a tray. Asura would probably tell you to do the same but with a bag of sterile bulk or Mac can teach you how to fruit the cake

To fruit cakes scrape off the dry verm layer and add casing. Straight into the SGFC it goes. Others have had success dunking the cake first.

And leave in the jar? Top fruit? And will it fruit from BRF, I don't have to mix with poo if any kind.

Yes. Leave in jar and top fruit.
I don't know the answer about only BRF.

Are you talking a regular PF cake or a pan cake like Mac's tek?

Sorry missed that. From my understanding a regular PF cake would still have to be spawned to poo.

Ok, yes it's a regular BRF cake. I've since made some of Macmerdins pan cakes. But this one is not. So I'll need to break it up in pasteurized poo, straw, and verm.

So I have some 2 year old pan spores and tried germinating on agar on multiple plates but I cant get anything but GD contams. Should I make some antibiotic agar plates? Ive tried 2x in front of my flow hood with inoc loop.
I am pretty sure its a mix of old spores and shitty prints. They are bagged well but looks like they were printed on some tyvec. Fucking Reddit...

I make a swab with a sterile q-tip and streak using this method: https://microbeonline.com/streak-plate-method-principle-purpose-procedure-results/
Basically, I'll use one swab to streak 4 plates. On the 3rd or 4th plate is where I usually get discrete colonies of mycelium that I can transfer away. The T1 plates from these are usually very uniform and clean.
Maybe give something like this a try and you might be able to work around the contams.

Are the spores on agar ever kept at a hundred degrees Fahrenheit for a few days to simulate the stomach of grass grazing animals? 100f is within the body temp range of horse, goat, deer, rabbit, and cattle.

First flush of plain straw, dunked pre-first flush -few hours, and cased with pasteurized decayed wood.
Really looking forward to working with clones and imagining that cluster action filling the whole tub but right now this is good enough for me.

Has anyone tried spawning colonized grain into sterilized bulk- let it colonize in bag and then spawn and case like asura method?
