I've used the same SGFC for cubes, pans, tamps and mexicana. Same parameters.

Do you allow for the mycelium to recover after you shake it all about and pack it into your fruiting tray? You'll want to do that before you case it to fruit.

After you lay out a tray, that is when you should have a recovery period. Cover the tray with foil and put it away somewhere. It should take about 5 days to recover. Then you case and fruit.

Follow Asura's link in his signature. I've read through it. Between Asura (especially) and David Barlow you can't go wrong. They are masters of the craft.

And to keep it at the optimal temperature, is it just a matter of heating the room it's in?
Is tektonix's approach still seen as viable - the SGFC is effectively housed inside a larger tub with water and aquarium heater and bubbler in the bottom.

Seems a bit excessive.

AgarStudent said: Hey guys - I have just been trying this strain - Pan Alabama Starting with spores on agar, taking transfers and colonizing the rye jars. I seem to have a fruiting problem. I am not sure if this is because I have shaken the jars. Once I shake them they seem to come back a bit spotty and occasionally go bacterial if I leave them a few days too long after colonization. Still the plates look fine with no trace of bacteria. Every time I spawn them to poo and make cakes - my cakes seem to stall a bit and then go mouldy. This one is going really slow and I have been trying to fruit it for at least a week: 90-95% humidity, fae, etc
Close up you can still see a bit of mycelium, but no trace of pins.

Do you reckon this is from shaking the jars and not having a mono-cuture? Thanks guys.
Take my advice with a grain of salt; honestly looks too dry with the obvious shrinkage of the sub. What was your process after spawning?
One of the most valuable pieces of info iv gotten to calm my initial doubts on how its supposed to look was Asura's guide mentioning how the mycelium "fans" through the casing.
when this happens the mycelium will usually connect/close the gap between the sub and the container. It doesnt look like that has happened.
If you havent cased yet its probably a good idea to do so.
The circular tray in the last pic I didnt wait until it was a 100% complete spawn run, it was more around 70% complete when i dunked it and then cased. Bacterial fears abounded but now 3.5 or max 4.5(cant recall) days later there's lots of knots & a single first pin.

Man I must’ve mixed these up with cubes somehow and idk how I did that because all of my other tubs are labeled correctly but these definitely aren’t pans

I have grown cubes for a while (sounds like an AA meeting). Finally made a few plates of Pan Jamaica. I cannot see what I should choose for an isolate. All plates are growing nicely. Going to use to oats, cause I fuck millet up every time. I would really rather not use poo, probably going to try straw. I will post the results. Any tips on isolating or straw tek would be appreciated. I'm friends with a ranch owner so I get tons of free horse shit.

With straw/grass clippings dry it, blend it, and its ready to use. Inexpensive and no long prep time.
Found a few wild pans this week and what seems to be p.cincts on some cow manure that I threw onto a small farming terrace. no prep, future fertilizer for plants and a chance to see what showed up naturally. After observing/picking I pounded the manure into smaller pieces and shredded some clean pan spawn onto it. Its slug city in that area but still interesting enough to give it a try, hopefully find a few blue surprises.
Tons of free horse poo sounds great.
Edit: found not p.cincts but what seems to be Panaeolus retirugis.

Hey guys,
I have just found 2 tiny "mystery pans" in my veggie spot. Picked the larger one, it was clearly bluing. They look kinda like Bisporus to me. Truth be told, I have buried an old contamed Bisporus cake into the spot a couple months back, but these guys popped about 3Ocm away from that spot.
Is it possible that it's still them? I will hope that the smaller one grows out and I'll print it if possible. If not, at least I'll feed the spot with some pasteurized cowshit-based compost in hopes for a future flush.
Don't have photos currently and they were too tiny for a decent pic, just wanted to ask.

Lots. Just not pans I have a bag of substrate colonizing but should have used more LC so it's taking long.
