Cakes and trays in SGFC yield better. Shea25, tektonic, and macmeridin have good examples of successful cake and tray grows.
tektonic's grow is sick. I can't remember but did he ever provide any details on his FC? You can see those big holes in the bottom but I wonder what else is going on there.

When i was doing my pancakes last I didn't look into tektonic's grows very much because his details... are sparse at best.
I should probably try both cakes proper, and the jar techniques side by side. Won't hurt. I need to make some LC anyways, and can just syringe all that into some pan(brf)cakes too. I'm going to make this happen before the end of the fucking summer goddamnit!

Look at it this way. If you could just grow pan cyan in a mono, the whole board would be growing them en masse for the simple reason that the trips are better, they are waaaay more potent than cubes and the fruiting cycle is insanely fast.
The first step to growing them is understanding what they like. They are picky and they just won't put up with the abuse that cubes will. Once you understand what they need you could certainly come up with many low tech methods to provide them.

Has anyone done bottle tek with pans? I have a few jars of wbs colonized that I'm going to have to wing , but I may go with straw/poo/wbs bottles once I have clean LC.

Awesome, thanks for responses and links. Yeah I had cakes in the back of my mind as well. So far macmerdin's seems like the way ill go for first try. Just wondering since like many older teks some info can be outdated or more complicated than it needs to be.

Yeah the top layer wouldve just been coir, or peat if its better in this case, with verm of course. The sub below would have all the grains and manure.
I do have a fan in my FC. Mostly just to circulate fresh air for a few minutes every hour. I think I see what you mean though. They need more FAE and thus more attention to surface conditions.

On a side note, I woke up to this text:
"Dude!! Stephanie took about 2.5g of the pans and lost her mind. Cut herself up and smashed her house tried to kill herself. She's ok now but I'm never sending these pans to anyone they are too much"
This person has sat in quite a few Ayahuasca circles too. She told my friend she had never had an experience like that.

Yea he detailed it pretty well. He did 1 cube grow and 2 pan grows. The first pan grow with 4 cakes put out 17 dry grams which was less than his 20 cake grow. Weird stuff.

in my tub, the air temp is ~91f @ 95-99% humidity with constant air exchange pushed by a air pump made for a 100 gallon fish tank
cubes blow up in these chambers too, but you have to take the temp way down
but honestly, when i posted threads asking if this would work a few months ago, some people acted like i was wasting my time
some times theres onry one way to find out

with this setup i was hoping the warm water on the bottom would help heat & humidify the air needed for fae. the holes in the bottom of the perlite tray are so the co2 can fall straight down & fresh air can go straight up. the perlite is for xtra humidity & to elevate the cakes from any falling co2, which i fan out every 6-12 hours
Quote:
the fc:
large tub is 26" x 17" x 12" on the bottom there is 1.5" of water in the water there are 2x 18" bubble wands attached to a tetra whisper 60 air pump (the 100 is probly better), and a small aquarium heater between them set at 70-72f (cubes) 76-78f (pans) there's no holes in this tub 2x 24" floro lights sit on the clear lid
the small tub is 16" x 14" x 4" it's sitting ontop of 5x 2" tall jars. it has about 40 holes the size of a pencil drilled in the bottom, and there's 2" perlite in it, the cakes are on wax paper (i hear myc eats aluminum, but i don't )

Heh, good point. Just trying to understand it myself before things get rolling. At first impression the process seems to be just like cubes minus a few caveats: Poo, thinner sub, and casing layer. Digging deeper it gets a little tougher to tell.
Very excited to get these going though. Cubes are great but I guess the stereotypes and hype left me expecting more. Heard pans were a whole different level.

Pans are definitely in a class by themselves.

My recipe can probably go without all the extras. I just used it because of store bought poo.

If I could follow any tent method I’d follow Mary’s hers seems to be the easiest. But idk my humidifier just got soaked instantly sitting at the bottom of the greenhouse. I guess it doesn’t matter but just made me uneasy. But damn I’d rather have it simple like that then all of the cycling of the JOC tek with two timers and every few minutes

Click on the link in my sig and go to the section where I detail how to dial it in. Explains how to get things set up for your specific environment so you wont soak everything and you'll be able to run your GH the best it can for your set of circumstances.

Seems like the best way to do it. Add one thing at a time and see what’s adding what. Originally I was going to have my Martha inside of my old grow tent. I was then going to humidify and heat the tent accordingly since that would be easier then trying to heat and humidify the whole room. Then last I would have my ultrasonic humidifier inside the Martha tent with the fae actually being hooked up to the grow tent and cycling every so often. But once I stuck the ultrasonic In and saw the humidifier getting wet I changed my mind. I probably could have still done that and just had the humidifier pipe in.
Keep it simple is what I need to do.

You will learn a ton about your environment dialing it in that way. Plus you can have it all set up before you start fruiting. And you know what it will handle. I've had empty trays in mine for like 2 days and could visibly inspect them so I knew I wouldn't be getting moisture build up. It's just a good way to do it no matter what you are growing.
