My issue must be in the pinning conditions, not in the substrate.

Not uniform, in some places very thin, in other places thick. Just can't make it uniform, unless I want to invest a shitload of time doing just that..

I keep mine as thin as possible. But I understand about the time factor.

That's what I've been aiming for as well. But in the grow where I got pins which aborted, it also wasn't very uniform. I am also not aiming for a canopy by any means. A couple mushies and spore prints is all I ask for. Want to share the love (and test them out)

I mean as for conditions I strongly recommend Finding someway to re-create my cycling method it doesn’t have to be done in a Martha you can do it in a tub even a shoebox I would imagine. But I also strongly recommend straw I’ve tried to grow on manure and coir a few times in the same tent got almost nothing every time

What are you using for casing?

I've had good experience with plain old cactus mix from the hardware store.

Looks like my cinctulus abort pics.

I have a feeling jake is right about the straw.

In the wild cubensis love cow dung, and paneolus love horse dung.

Horses have fewer stomaches, meaning there is more undigested grassy straw material in the horse dung.

All i use is straw, 100% straw substrate.

Anyone remember that pan clone i accidentally dropped in my still air box, into peroxide and soap?

Its 100% colonized, and pinning on the walls of the tub.

This newest tub hasnt been cased and im contemplating what to do with it. Its already fruiting as it is.  Try a spawn run or case n fruit normally. Probably the former.

Another side by side. Day 2, 3 and 4 (today). I am getting some of the biggest fruits I have ever had.

Got some small pins so I am trying to hold off harvesting as long as possible. Might have to in the morning.

How deep is your substrate? Trying to figure out how much hpoo, straw and CVG to use for a 66qt tub.

The moss in the middle was just for a test, and the casing was just forest compost and highly decayed wood dust.

It fluctuates between 76 and 81.

I like 77 though. Wish I could have that locked in all the time.

I mean... they do make things that can do that for you hehehe. I have a temp based ink bird that I'm not using right now. It has one plug to put a cooling unit in, and another for a heating. When my AC goes in I'll likely be needing to warm it up in my GH so I'm probably going to hang a heating pad somewhere on the ceiling of the GH and hope to use it for "safe" radiant heat. Not sure how you could cool that shit easily though.

Yeah my inkbird temp controller blew out a bunch of
outlets because it doesn't have fault protection.

I have to run extension cords into my grow room for
power now.
