does this hold true at any point along their maturation time? that is, if the tray above had gotten spritzed the day before, would them shrooms have stopped growing right then? or is there some tolerance gained after they reach a bit larger size?
Pan bisporus tolerates being sprayed pretty well.

I’m about to put this process in to FC here in the next few days but I know Pan cint Was damn near immune to being sprayed

Aussie T1 plate. Filled the whole plate in 3 days. Put to grainwater LC. That will be ready on Thursday at the rate its going. It was so fast I am skeptical that it is pan mycelium...
This above culture actually turned out to be trich. I should have known - it was just too fast/vigorous to be pan myc. I was totally fooled though - even started an LC with it. Crazy how similar it looks to pan myc at this stage. Lesson learned.
I've got some new plates which are behaving as expected. Two 5-day old Jam wedges on the left (on grain soak agar) and a 10-day old aussie wedge on the right (on MEA). The pan-jam has nearly caught up with the aussie. Have my three LC jars prepped for innoc tomorrow.

Pretty disappointing grow. 2nd flush pan Alabama.
Got 40 prints out of it and enough for quite a few good trips.
Need to figure out how to get more consistent pin sets. Will be testing some ideas and reporting back.

Yeah sometimes that happens with ms. Does it to me all the time. That’s why I spend so much time making and breeding ISO’s . But then I’ve also had ms give me a canopy several times so 🤷♂️

@Mac Well, I'm disappointed because I wanted a big ol' canopy Yeah it was MS.
@Jake Same here. I probably need to stick with one variety and dial it in. MS is such a crap shoot.

@Asura don't be disappointed brother. Count your blessings. I bet most of us would be very happy to grow a tray full of Pans like that. I would be
My second attempt at Pans, this time tub in mono (an automated fogging/fanning setup is in contemplation for the future).

Got one more bag to spawn that colonized slower (should have used more LC I guess).

Here is a happy idea; let the disapointing first flush spore splode over the substrate, harvest then fruit again and see what happens.
I got a nice canopy culster probably from a third flush, as in only part of the substrate canopied. And I was thinking woah i wonder whats happening there in that spot.
the primotida started as little white specks that seemed to take a little longer to pin.
It turned out to be a cluster of pans. I was like eh probably should clone this thick cluster. i didnt and i didnt post a pic either lol.
Now later on ive mistakenly let one of my tubs sporulate all over until the casing was black. The first flush was okay like the other shoe boxes i posted, no canopy. The same tub looks like its about to have a full canopy for the second flush because theres primordia all over. All over.
Something to try out & see if others get the same results.
Also someone mentioned about watering and spraying. Spraying i think the force of the water is just too powerful. And they dont like water sitting on the caps.
However theres a stage right after the pins form and start growing up where iv found it helpful to soak the casing for a hour or two and pour it off. Been getting bigger fruit doing this.
Im startig to think of the mycleium as a pet, with its own special needs, and i dont see why it has to die... its as if we have lots more to learn about caring for this type of organism. I have spent substrate, but i feel it just needs more food like any other pet. None of mine that iv put to fruiting have ever gotten contamed (knocks on wood) but they have been spent.
Eh who knows maybe in the future, house hold's will have beloved family mycielum that continuallly fruits. And we will say "Are you sure you want a colony of mycelia? Having a pet is a big responsibility"

I think you will, maybe less humidity... i cant grow cubes for .... in the fruiting chamber for pans which are easy... and its just a drawer with space between the upper area of its walls and the drawer above it. So it gets plenty of fresh air, the walls are usually dry but cool by the time im home from work. (No droplets on the walls) Then i mist again, twice per day. Hope that helps.

Well i am taking it nice and slow. i dont do spawn runs yet. Which is probably why there arent contaminants. Just fruit out of the tub when its fully colonized. And i find straw (from cutting grassy yards) is a great sub for them.
This here is just straw with perlite on top. Both sterilized. And then cased with pasterized humus (leaflitter). Avoiding fresh leaves which stay too wet/bacterial, and dirt which gets too dry.
I imagine the perlite does the same as a dry verm barrier, but its not necesary and i cant really say whether it makes a difference yet.
First non typo edit: i basically do what your threads said to do and use my brain to tweak it and try using what i have access to. Observing them outside helps too, they always fruit before cubes, no huge rains necesary.

So... I have a jar of Pan Aussies going that started to ... blob? Trich? Mold? WTF is happening in my jar?

It appears to be solid in nature like a blob. I've seen trich form in coir that looks like solid white lumps, but never on grain like this. It almost seems to be... pinning? That's impossible right?
I'm pretty unfamiliar with exotic spawn still, so maybe this is common? I figured I'd ask. The jar has some moisture (but most of my jars do this time of year), but besides that it looks alright to me. The other jar seems to be getting some white-er spots too, but they haven't blobbed like this yet.
(sorry I tried to take a better picture for a while, this is as good as you can get w/o using the naked eye)
Any ideas? Toss it? Good to go?
