Looks bacterial imo. I'd bury it outside.
These are wild. But I took a clone from a fat cluster so maybe it counts? Figured you guys like all sorts of pans even if they aren't cultivated. I plan to do some indoor grows and also make LC to help grow the patch larger.

This patch has been providing for years. Giant pile of hpoo from stall cleaning. Some hay mixed in there as well. No straw.

pasteurizing my first manure based substrate right now. dried grass clippings, aged horse manure, verm. will be spawning three jars of oats which reached 100% after recovering from a shake. three other jars did not recover and will be fed to the pile.
don't yet know what i'm spawning to, in terms of vessels. spawn ratio will end up a pretty high, around 1:2. declaring victory at full colonization. fruit considered a bonus. baby steps.
Jack - careful with the high spawn rate. Read a bit further to confirm but from what I've read pans from grains have tended to do better on a lower spawn rate than say cubes. I've seen 1:4 recommended (if not doing direct inoculation). Something about too much to much nutrients to munch on. May want to confirm.
you're right. lower ratios always seem to be recommended. my concern is the combination of, i've never run a pasteurized manure substrate before, and my cultures don't seem particularly quick like the learned ones advise we find. really only trying to get to the point of casing to call it a success. higher spawn ratio figures to help that. that's the idea, anyway. i've been crazy lucky with mexicana at 1:1, so whatever that means.
i got my trays sorted out. actually kinda jazzed by the rig i came up with. hope it works.

Maybe its to do with being outdoors
These were the two my spores came from. Dried they are still bigger than the recent fresh ones, I still have them saved in a small jar.

Thoughts on this two? Are these toast as well? This is from a different LI after some more clean up.

This is the same LI but on hpoo cakes

I would say they are all bacterial. Good pan myc is usually much lighter.

Thank. I wish it was not true. I guess its back to MS to try and clean it up more from the start. I swear nothing else gives me issues (cubes, truffles or edibles) quite like pans. First MS syringe would not germinate, second one was contaminated with tric from the start. I got it replaced by the vendor. This one finally germinated and even after 7 transfer I cant seem to get it clean

Yeah they are real weird I struggled bad for about 8 straight months I just kept adapting and then it clicked. One thing I do is play my numbers. I’ll germ lots of dishes lots of jars and spread them out a bit so I always have backups. That way failures don’t bother you as much and you maintain confidence

I've fucked up with pans just about every way you can but I have never had a problem with getting good plates. There must be something else going on. Pans are dung lovers not grain lovers. Other than Jake I dont think I've seen any impressive grows using grain spawn. Personally I think its too much nutrition. If anything it should be easy to at least make it to the fruiting stage. Bisporus is probably the exception.

Got two trays of Alabama due to fruit tomorrow. Nice tendrils of rhyzomorphic myc poking through the casing everywhere.
This part always makes me nervous. Is it going to pin? Or is it just going to fucking sit there!
And I wanna start seeing more pics of ya'lls plates. I wanna see what's going on.

I got some pan LC going from those spores(went to agar) but I think its contained. Hard to tell...
Usually LCs do not have sattalite growth unless the wedge flakes off myc fragments

Original spore streaked plate > t1 > t2 on a really big plate, allowed to sector and left it alone to pin on the agar. This is a clone off one of the more interesting invtro pins and its really hard to see. Its healthy. This slant... also what happens when the jars cool in the pc.
7g wet. Consider the two outdoors weighed as much these. Second flush pinning nicely, not worth a pic the pins are small and its hard to see.

Another second flush,

Aussie T1 plate. Filled the whole plate in 3 days. Put to grainwater LC. That will be ready on Thursday at the rate its going. It was so fast I am skeptical that it is pan mycelium...
