Nice, 345. It's looking good.
I cleaned my grow room yesterday and rebuilding it back up. Re-calibrating my humidity controller.
I added a tub of water with an aquarium heater in it to my fruiting chamber. I'm really excited because that, by itself, is bringing humidity up to 75%. I've been trying to set things up so I am relying on my fogger less. Makes it easier to keep humidity high without the risk of over-saturating my trays.

Shit! No pictures yet (too soon) but I have mycelium from Asura's pan aussies and I transferred it and it seems to be recovering... SHIT Ya'll. It's happening.
I've been assuming that I can go straight to grain with these, then to the substrates needed? AHHHHH I haven't looked it up in a while because the last time I tried this I couldn't get shit to germinate to save my life. Too excited.

Not sure how you plan to spawn but pans are a dung-loving species. You need very little grain. Like 1:4

I'm planning to spawn however I need to lol. I've got a couple of weeks to get it figured out while I keep cleaning it up and going to grain. I guess I could try to do a muda bottle with grains and poo... Then I'd also need to get better at LI though... HMMMMM
Thanks Asura!

Quick question!
I’m about a week away from birthing my pan. Cope grain jars and wanted to ask a question about straw. I have chinchillas, which means I have high quality Timothy hay on hand. If I shred the Timothy hay, do you suppose that will be fine as part of the substrate? Thanks!

mullugh said: So I spent the day making this beast. The box cost a few quid, but as it perfectly filled the space and accommodates a few shoe boxes, I bit the bullet. It might be an investment if it means not throwing away box after box of mouldy substrate. I put the heat mat inside the box vertically with a gap between the action. I'll have a research about best temperature. Fogger comes on a few times a day (6_8 times for about 20m every 24hrs).

Balls. All three have developed mould and had to go...I wonder if I it's due in part to fae...the spawn smelled good and I've used the same batch of sub and casing with cubes which are happy. I included chopped straw with the manure, verm and gypsum.
Trying to my chin up while I wait for the next lot of spawn to colonize.

@queerflatsoda - I'm pretty sure it will work fine, but you will have to find out for sure and report back. I would just chop it into 1 inch pieces and give it a go.
We are all pretty much experimenting and flying by the seat of our pants. Well, except for Jake and mary.

Oh I’m still learning also. First thing I’m learning is either or you cannot differentiate the different pan species by spore size or nothing is what they say it is lol. Well as far as pan cams are concerned at least. Trying to identify successful clamp connections between hausteca and Australia but it just looks a tangled mess lol

How many measurements are you taking of each mushrooms spores? You need to do an average or 50 spores to determine the correct range of spore size, you have to measure the width and length, also know what view you are looking at of the spore you are trying to measure, are you looking at the top , bottom or sides of the spore, orientation is important, lots of pieces to the puzzle have to be put together correctly before you can be able to use a microscope to help determine which species you have, it's more than measuring a few spores. Once you can recognize the spore morphology, measurements will be easier and once you can gather the proper data it will be easier to put it all together.
Edit: you have to also consider that the specimens you are using, could have been misidentified and is not what you think you have. Something to consider if things aren't lining up.
