Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but slow plates don't bode well, ricky. I would still try to fruit it as long
as it looks similar to the pic I posted above.

fuck. how challenging was it for you to find quick growing cultures? i've run thru a fair number and there really wasn't much variation in speed at all.

It shouldn't be hard. At least it hasn't been for me. I do all my colonizing (plates, bags) at higher temps, though.

I know that's supposed to be bad, but that's what I do.

I hadn't heard that incubating at higher temps was bad. Is that just for pans or all species?

I've always heard that higher temps makes it easier for contamination. But that has not been my experience with
pans or cubes.

Same for me. I have wondered though, since my pans tend to abort when I go to the fruiting stage, whether colonizing a bag of substrate at elevated temps and then moving them into a fruiting chamber with lower temps contributes to stalling.

I've had success with temperature ranges between 70°-80°f, that's colonization and fruiting, average temperature is 73-75 occasionally dropping to 68°f if it's cold outside.

Edit: humidity is the most important factor in my opinion, to much and they start rotting, to little and they will dry out and die.

Hey guys !

Thank you for all the knowledge

I can't wait to harvest my first grow of Pan cyan but the adventure has been difficult !

Winter temperatures here in Canada weren't friendly for my wallet on electricity fees.

The fact that I hadn't good quality manure (store-bought)  wasn't helping, but it should hopefully be resolved next week.

I tried (and still trying) to grow :
  • Panaeolus Cyanescens Hawaii
  • Panaeolus Cyanescens Jamaica
  • Panaeolus Cyanescens Australia
  • Panaeolus Cyanescens Estero
  • Panaeolus Cambodginiensis Sandose Domesticate
  • Panaeolus Cambodginiensis Suphanburi Thailand “Goliath”
  • Panaeolus Bisporus
  • Panaeolus Tropicalis

The Goliath and Bisporus were bunks and gave me nothing even after using the full print.
I've messed up the Jamaican and Australian
The Hawaiian, Estero, Sandose and Tropicalis are doing well on agar and I should be able to put then into grain soon !

Pan cultures have been a real headache.  Not sure what the problem is.  5-6 attempts to grains, all thrown out.  Gonna keep at it when I have some time.  But have fallen a little behind on getting spores to agar and doing transfers.

jesus, 85F if sweltering. think i'll give mid to upper 70s for culturing a shot. i guess i'll be gently heating a closet.

or, would it be stupid to put plates and jars in the heated grow tent? that is, would the humidity screw something up, like with gas exchange in the jars or something?

i'll just answer my own question, and put some, not all jars in the tent and see how that fares.

So than pan hausteca always only give me one good  flush the pan aus always give me 2 good one’s and one okay one. The hausteca’s are meatier tho and shorter. So anyway here goes my first few attempts and pan inter strain crosses. These are without venom. I should have my venom soon then the real fun starts!
