My main problem is that I am not getting any pinning. And this is even with my cubes which are grown in the opposite end of the house from my pan fruiting room. Pan subs look totally healthy, though. I have a long list of things I need to do before I start back up.
I just threw away 3 shoeboxes. Two picked up trich and one had mycogone ffs. Never had mycogone before.
Not sure what is going on in my house.

Btw, I have good growth from that Ogre Boy you sent me, but I am holding off on starting any more grows until I sort out some environmental issues that I'm having.
Ah thanks. As in the region where they were first found.
I have put two dishes of that ogre boy to rye berrie jars (not worth a pic yet) and we're trying to dry some hpoo in the yard for them. Also made a lc of ogre boy (poked the agar with syringe, used simple rye water, from the boil), some 70ml worth. Waiting for new syringes to arrive to try that out.

hm, that's about as big a problem as there is. not just changing of the seasons? shit man, i hope you get it sorted pronto. i think jake is on to something with the humidity fluctuation idea. you're in a southern and therefore humid clime, and springtime is rainy season, right? could higher ambient humidity be contributing? i mean, if evap is a pinning trigger, and there's less evap...? thinking out loud.

Yeah Jack, I was thinking along the same lines as far as season change. I have noticed that I am just not getting the evap rate I want, but I have been unable to fix it by adjusting temps.
You can feel the moisture where I am in the air right now.

When it comes to these pans, how long is give up time? I mean, they should be up in 3 days after casing right? Ive heard they are way faster than cubes and all of my cubes in the past have came up very quickly. Im on day 8 waiting after casing and not a sign of shit.

Yeah, it's pretty much over at 8 days if you haven't seen anything. I've grown a lot of pans but I continue to have all kinds of issues still pop up.
I had a recent round of grows that didn't pin. When I autopsied the subs I found they were too wet. You can tell not just from feel but there is a distinct smell that is similar to ammonia (which mary tells me she has experienced as well) that builds up.
This is shown me that I am not getting the evaporation rate that I need. My temps are fine but I've had to make big adjustments to my FAE. I did and now I have a tray of pan jams on the verge of pinning. So my course correction looks like it is working.
It might be worth breaking up the sub and seeing if there's any info you can learn to prepare for your next attempt.

Asura when you dig em out and noticed they where too wet did you figure out how? Like over feild capacity at spawning or casing? heavy misting? Or not enuff evaporation, temperature or FAE was low ?
Im asking cuz I’m trying to get my own Pan setup rocking and want to try my best having things on a good path to success. I am excited these plates should have growth anyway now!

My humidity and temps were where I wanted. Visually, everything looked ok. That pretty much leaves poor evaporation as the cause. I should have known this because even with my fogger running on a humidity controller, the casing should start to dry out if my conditions are ideal (for my set up). I have always had to mist and hand water my casing layer. But this time the casing was just staying wet. Should have figured it out sooner. I've introduced more FAE and things are looking better.

Yeah, I'm gonna take it and crumble it outside to see if it'll do anything during the spring. Honestly, I just need to get new material to work with. This syringe was given to me and I believe its very old and very dirty. I had to clean it up over and over. Maybe something got through.
However, I believe you are 100% correct about it being too wet. This sub is only 2" or less deep and the sub hasn't shrunk at all. That's the one thing that makes me think its a.moisture control issue is that there is no shrinking which would be a sign.it is evaporating.

This is the game I'm trying to figure out now. What is the optimal evaporation rate to induce pinning. I'm thinking of FAE and RH as two separate factors. In my setup I can introduce fresh air while maintaining the RH. So my thinking is the RH is critical - its a proxy for evaporation rate.
I've read previously documented grows where the environment was kept near saturation and pinning still occurred. This is a mystery to me how that would happen. But maybe has to do with where and how one measures RH. I leave my probe right above the sub. I'm experimenting now with maintaining the RH around 80-85% for pinning induction. I had it too high at first and was having the same problem you mentioned. I may have lost this tray already but learned another hard lesson.
