grimsweeper, you cut that black kow with anything like coir, verm, straw or nothing at all? also, pasteurized of course? last, what's your grain?
related-ish, something jake said a minute ago has me wondering about using dried out grass clippings. was thinking black kow and grass clippings is easier for me to get than manure and straw. and clippings are pre-choppped!
That would be really awesome if that worked! Try it!

I added about 10-15% verm only because my BK was frozen and when I thawed it out it was a bit muddy. And yes I did pasteurize it. Another thing worth noting- I have one shoebox I tried a straight verm casing on that I can't get to pin. Surface condition actually looks pretty good but the pans don't seem to like it.
@Philosipherr I agree straight up shoeboxes aren't ideal but if youre not running a Martha it works. I'd suggest dubtubbibg to anyone right at fruiting for a little more FAE.

Here are some pics. Not great but maybe it will help. This is the edge of the tray and you can see the sub and casing detaching from the side. The Pan Cambos are in the tray on the right (Tamps are on the left):

I can see that the casing is starting to get colonized from the side view:

and the underside looks quite healthy. This pic really kind of sucks. Sorry. Will try for a better one:

Its been two weeks since I crumbled an dcased with sterilized 50/50 peat / verm. I am thinking I should have incubated before casing. My plan is to just keep misting and wait and see unless someone has a better idea. Humidity is about 98. I re-attached my mister when I learned I actually had Tamps on the left and not pans. lol
Any advice is appreciated!

I had my first Pan experience two days ago and I'm glad I went conservative. We're vacationing in South Florida and I ate .06g and went bar hopping on the beach. It's surprising just how different they are than cubes. Absolutely no body load and very trippy and visual. I enjoyed it a lot but I wouldn't recommend it for crowds. Trying to order drinks off a menu was impossible. Like looking through a kaleidoscope. 6 hours and still pretty trippy.

It was easy to get my Bisporus to pin, but all pins aborted right after reaching about 1cm, even less. Any ideas?

Oops! Yes .6g. I'm pretty comfortable on 2.5-3g of cubes in public though to put it in perspective.

Yeah it seemed like my bulk sub was completely colonized so I crumbed and cased and put into FC all in one go. Sounds like I should crumble, allow an additional restitch / incubation phase, and THEN case and put in the FC?
I think after I crumbled, putting it directly in FC temps probably slowed this tray down a bit and perhaps it was not actually FULLY colonized. The underside does show some darker spots so this must be the case.
So a wait and see approach is still best for this tray you think?
The only alternative I think would be to plastic wrap it and put in an incubation chamber at 85º for a few days or so, and then return it to FC.

Here is some Pan Trop mycelium I transferred to grain tonight. It’s been a bugger to get any nice looking growth. Does this look ok?

Hope so since I put it on grains already...

are you colonizing your bulk in spawn bags or something? if so yeas after you break apart and lay into tray allow 3-5 days for it to reconsolidate before casing
pan trop looks diff on agar and moves a lil slower thats why i think my"subtrop" is actually tropicalisis.
trop can be a big pain in the ass. gives me a harder time than most other pans

Yeah with this bag of Pan Cambo, I used a grain jar to inoculate a bag of sterilized Rye, WBS, Zoodoo, Vermiculite, Stevia leaf, and black mustard seed according to Blue Helix's recipe from a Pan Aus grow. I am going to try this same recipe but with the Pan Jams and Pan Cy Big Island next although part of me feels like I should slow down, focus, and figure out one variety at a time.

It sounds like you and I are on a similar track. I have been working with pan-HI since last fall and have several failures under my belt with that variety.
I inoculated sterile poo-based bulk sub in a bag with an LC 10 days ago. One of the first things that surprised me was how delicately this species colonizes a sub compared to cubes. Looking through the condensation and poo on the inside of the bag, I could barely tell it was there and had to shine a flashlight through the bag to see it.
I crumbled and laid it yesterday and there's already a fine layer of myc across the surface - but again, its very thin and hard to see. I am planning on casing it in the morning and then fruiting immediately. Fingers crossed on this one.

Fingers crossed for you! Yeah I think I tried and failed with at 6 trays of Pan HI. That was before I had a GH that is pretty dialed in though. I am way more confident now. I can do this! :-) Although I have two trays of Aussies right now that are also doing nothing. They are opaque trays so I can't really see whats up. I am thinking of using Jake's cycle timer method and basically just alternate FAE pulled in through a filter in the top of the GH and mist. I only really have a couple of cube grows under my belt but I already feel like for cubes you just need good sensors and high quality mist. I use an ozone generator in the mist water which I think has helped keep contams down. I am not sure set points alone for temp and humidity are going to cut it with pans though. I am hearing that the evaporation cycle is key. Right now I have a weak fan sucking air out the bottom of my GH for 15 mins every hour so I kind of have a cycle going but I don't know of this is enough. It seemed to really help my cubes. I had packed the GH really densely with trays and they were moving sooo slooowly but when I added the fan to suck air out the bottom, they sped up immediately and overwhelmed my life. lol
