@FT first set of pics still have a lot of genetics in them. They're clean. Just keep transferring. I'd hit up the really thick spots that are colonizing faster than the thin spots.
2nd yes it's usable just stay away from that spot.
3rd yeah its healthy. Not sure why they make rings. Cubes do it too. I think it's a combination of light and temperature differences during colonisation.

I'll second that. Although these are from store bought manure.

The culture I'm working with fruits really well on agar. So I'm confident it will do just fine on grain, bran, coffee and straw.

Fantastic Mr. Fox said: I got tired of burst grains. Even 2% struck a nerve.. So I transitioned over to RGS. No soak, no simmer.. Just load grain, water. gypsum..shake it all up && then PC.
I'm gonna try this. Thanks for the tip. It should be at any local feed store, right?

I don't mind. A little constructive criticism is a good thing.

burst grains haven't really been a vector for not colonizing IME, its just a sticky mess and lets nasty things grow too.
if you shoot a spore syringe into a jar withh burst grains you'll see germination in the starch from the burst grains first.

Hmm I'll just have to wait and see. Maybe I'll take a colonized chunk of grains and transfer it to a properly prepped jar. Then just G2G from there.

I'm inclined to think something nasty is hiking along your culture. if you have a problem so early rather start over than try to fix it IMO.

That's true, I don't want to be taking unnecessary risks. I think I'll just make a LI syringe with the fully colonized plate I have and then shoot up new jars with that.

Random thought. What would you guys describe the smell of pans to be.. I got asked that the other day and I was like definitely not mushroomy.. It's such a weird smell

I love cincts
My pan jamaica trays I spawned 18 hours ago are already like 10-25% colonized. My average time to get fully colonized trays from spawning is 2-3 days. I hope I get the same results!
