I mean I suppose with enough tech anything is possible, but I think there are more likely inter species crosses out there kinda like its easier to breed a horse and a donkey than a horse and a panther

Yeah one is tropical all around warm weather fruiter the other is annual seasonal cold temp fruiter. They might be too different to cross breed

interested in the chat about pan cyan speed across agar. i got two sets of pan cyans going, one set of aussie from asura, and a wild one from doc. both sets transferred two weeks ago. some decent looking spots to take next transfers from, but all plates are between nickel and quarter size. nowhere near crossing a whole plate in seven days. ambient temp is around 70F.
question is, are rapid cultures few and far between, or typical and just that temperature dependent?
edited to add, jake, you're a fuckin rockstar.

The Pan Bisporus I've been working with was average speed. I only let the disk get about 2 inches across and I drop it into a master jar. I don't allow agar to colonize all the way across. Most of ypur contaminates will be towards that outer edge ( from my understanding).

Everything I've got on plates right now is moving pretty slow: jams, aussie, Hawaii, bama, texas.....creeping along.

I know this isn't much to look at but it's been a long road for me. My 1st attempt at Pan Bisporus (or any Pan) I just couldn't get clean up to T5 so I started all over again from the same print on a new plate. Back up to T4 then spawned oats Just under a month ago. 6 shoeboxes with varying ratios and sub combos trying to figure out what they want without setting up a Martha. This one is 1:1 pasteurized Black Kow with a handful of verm, 1.5" sub. Cased with pasteurized Jiffy mix after 10 days. Fruited 7 days later in a 56 quart HC rigged with a very small 30/15 minute cycle air pump/humidifier. Wasn't sure I'd get anything at all so I'm pretty happy to be in the pan club. Still have new pins popping up and no aborts so I must be getting it half right.
