I mean it would be cool to know the exact statistics and what not but I just have a cheap little three dollar humidity desk I put in every tub that tells me temperature and humidity then I just check on him a few times a day and I just as I see fit. The more you work with a species and strain the more you begin to understand them I have a pretty good feel for the Australian pans. Don’t be afraid to fail the more you work with them the better you will get it at being able to read them just keep growing that’s my biggest advice keep growing and pay attention

Great looking tray Hazelnut. Congratulations!
@Jake: a few weeks back ppl were talking about self watering trays for pans, on this thread I think. Has anyone tried that yet? Because I'm going to try that for sure. I think I have a basic design for them. Clean tube with a cotton string inside from a soda bottle into the tray and spiral that string all through the casing. Capillary action should keep moisture levels high
Got to this experiment. Couldn't find any info on it. Any thoughts guys, Jake?
Thanks!
the thing about the self watering trays is if you run this string thru ur sub it will be rehydrating the sub not the casing. the evaporation if happening on the casing in theory if ur casing is constantly rehydrated ur sub should not dry out. I suppose you could run the string thru the casing although I don't think it would evenly distribute the water and may disturb the pinning Here is panaeolus huasteca
Lastly...... how is this Bitches areola shaped like a heart? they can do that?

It took a while to recover from the refrigeration though I think. I transferred some cubensis KSS at the same time and they have colonized almost 100% of the plate. Just wondering if there might be some invisible bacteria in the culture, slowing it down
Light Malt Extract & Agar Room temperature: 73–79F

And here's the third flush from my aussie shoeboxes I'm not getting any prints out of these, they are so small

WHAT HAVE I BEEN MISSING! They are BEAUTIFUL!! Congrats Hazelnut- Pans in a shoebox. Prints- look for some sign of spore drop & give em a try.

Has anyone ever seen panaeolus huasteca grown before? I’m told This may be the first time it’s been cultivated.

Absolutely! And I did

I was going to do some gene work on them before I started sending out prints but if you want a first generation print I can probably make that happen

I have been to the Huasteca region of Mexico and ate their Pans in a ceremony. The people in this area LOVE mushrooms, you'll see it painted on buildings and even government vehicles. Its beautiful, half rain forest, half desert. The region is also where there is a an indigenous culture around peyote. Magical place and fairly untravelled.
Anyways. Yeah. Cool grow dude! Where'd the print come from?

Alan Rockefeller collected it in Mexico
Also thanks for all the love my brothers and sisters So my friend has been on this quest to make this in my in profit tea that supposedly was ingested via enema when they wrote the Myon calendar and the tea is comprised of 13 different mushrooms he has speculations on what they are but they are all South American species I told him I would collect as many as I can for him he has been obsessed with this for shit 15 years that I’ve known him maybe more . Supposedly different mushrooms are depicted on 13 mushroom stones found in different temples and pyramids in South America. Definitely would be cool to try especially if it gives me the power to see the future Lol I was told a prophecy on 110 hits of LSD which came true down to the minute detail it’s a long story for another day

shroomms said: I was wondering how you guys determine the proper moisture/water content in your sub for pan cyans. The sub i'm using currently is 50% black kow 25% coir 25% verm. I've hydrated it til a few drops come out when squeezed...however, i'm suspecious it's over-hydrated.
You just bring it to field capacity like you would with cubes when you squeeze it a few drops should come out you can always adjust after or during incubation with distilled water so it’s easier to be on the dry side then the wet side you can always add more it’s hard to take it away. I have never been able to get a pan to pin without straw. Not saying it can’t be done but they really love a mix of straw and Pooh. I was told that the more Pooh you have in your substrate the better your yield will be but that has not been my experience I actually do best with only 35% to 60% straw 5% vermiculite

Another, more accurate way, is to weigh out a sample of the sub, then microwave it for 2-3 minutes so its bone dry, then re-weigh it and calculate the percent water content (shooting for 65%).
Repeat the cycle by microwaving for another minute then re-calculating. If it only changes a little bit then you are there. If not keep repeating - the verm is surprising at how well it holds on to the moisture.

well he is mostly on the research end of it. im charged with hunting down and growing up the species lol. were not exactly positive which all we need but im pretty sure I have 3 of them and should have a fourth soon. I would of have aztecorum but I couldn't get it to germ but I should be getting another of those soon too (I hope)
