Forgot to ask - so the bruising is likely due to drying out? I assuming it could also be due to some handling issues as well potentially but beyond maybe a gentle touch to confirm the moisture of the casing I not man-handling them.
Would a soak help give it what it needs or just keep on going with a lower RH to try to induce pinning and doing cycles of case hydration / evaporation?

Guys another noob question, when say give it a soak, do you mean spraying it heavily or dunking it?

Do not soak or add water to grain jars it will get the moisture it needs when you cut to bulk. Light bruising is nothing to concern yourself with. Pans contain a lot of actives. Often time I don’t see bruising in my jars until after I shake.

The Pan Jam and Cambo trays both appear to have gotten the green... RIP. The casing had a pH of 6 so I know I was rolling the dice.

Cambo
Hard to see, but where the myc is peeking out there's tinges of blue in there.
I have another Cambo tray that has been consolidating for 10 days (see below). Thoughts on how to proceed? I have a casing ready to roll that's at 7.5 pH. It looks like the sub has contracted a bit. Soak, case, and put to fruit? Or just case and fruit?

Give ur cambo a good misting with distilled water then case very thin!!! You still want to be able to see a lil myc peeking thru here and there. My trays I use only 2/3 of a hand full. Then mist the casing. Place in 99rh for 3 days then drop to 88

@345...
With regards to your pan jam tray, perhaps patch that with your 7.5 casing, if you have any left over. As it seems to have colonized too much. What do you think Jake?
And with regards to dunking the substrate, you shouldn’t need to do that until after the first flush (if you brought the sub to sufficient field capacity initially)

@Jake, do you use distilled water for every aspect of your pan grows (for sub and grain as well?) Is this to control the ph levels as much as possible?
(I’m just using regular tap water for everything)

Just fruited a tray of Pan Bama's today (took the day off from work too!)

The pic doesn't do this tray justice. It's both wispy and thick and perfectly white. No metabolites. Very little moisture on the surface. Pic kind of makes it look like that goopy marshmallow type myc that you get with overlay. It's not. Probably the best tray I've had so far.

It was a complete failure. I tried to grow them like I do pans and they weren't having it. I've talked with mary and will try a different direction next time. Have some LC growing out for attempt #2.

What's up everyone. Many of you said that Bisporus will hate fresh cow shit, but apparently mine begs to differ. It is growing very healthy and nearing full colonization. Not the fastest, but def looks healthy.

If any of y'all buying poo off the internet have chickens or know someone with chickens, aged chicken poo is just as good as horse or cow poo, I've used it many times with excellent results growing panaeolus species and Psilocybe cubensis.

Good to know. I have a local supply of chicken poo. You would think hpoo would be piled neck deep here in Texas but I can't find a supplier closer than 2 hours away.

Where in Texas? I just happen to have family out that way with horse ranches, if you are close I will make arrangements for you. I think I have a 1st cousin outside of Houston and another one near San Antonio. If I put in a few words for you they will let you take what you want.

I'm in Houston. A friend of mine has a source, but I think it's a pretty good drive. Don't think the local polo club would let me pilfer poo out of there

I bet they would if you asked, I will see exactly what the town name is where my cousin lives, if it's close enough I'll introduce y'all. If there is an equestrian center nearby, you should go there, they will be happy to let you have it.
